Well i was leaving the territory of rice tonight after work and the road y's into one road from 2 lanes and there was a Harley Davidson motorcycle in front of me... in front of him was a Chevrolet Malibu, well he cut in front of the Malibu and got on it going away from me and i got through then proceeded to follow him. Well he was pulling away from me and he started cruising at about 100mph. Well i followed him again and the road curves slightly and then goes to a long straight stretch. Well he got on it again (its a Harley you can hear it from a mile away) and i did too well i wound out my girl in 3rd till about 6k and finally let off the gas a little to allow the 3-4 shift and i got into it a little again. well i am catching him now, slowly but i'm catching him. I finally am coming up on him maybe doing 20mph more than him (about 130 i think) and i get about 1 1/2 lengths behind him and he slams on his brakes so i do too. Then he waits a minute then nails it again, i said screw it i already proved myself and went home. That was pretty fun, I thought he was going to be gone.

Messing with bikes on the street, especially around curvy roads and 2 into 1 laners is dangerous and stupid. You prove nothing.

You can seriously hurt him, yourself or oncomming traffic .

Re: Maro vs. Harley
nice man sounds like a good time, i cruised with a harley "gang" i guess once at 110-120 with some fun racing in there before for 10 or 15 minutes, it was fun, those guys are cool to be on the road with, they are there to ride, like your there to drive. and freestylzz dude come on, this is a racing board, and if the biker is willing to race/go real fast, thats his decision, the fact he rides a motorcycle is a dangerous choice in it self compared to a car/truck, so thats fine you don't think it was a smart choice to race, but keep it to your self, both guys involved had a great time, and im sure they would do it again, let them enjoy the memory

Shows what you know....

I've had bikes from each continent. Harleys are nice bikes, very much built to last a long time. Probably the nicest bikes on the road in fit and finish. Better paint than any BMW (two or four wheels) or Mercedes paint.

Re: Maro vs. Harley
you know Harley once made a dirt bike, but it got banned from racing because it was so much better than the other bikes. And all there bikes are high quality, just because its not a crotch rocket doesnt mean its slow.

I'd buy a Yamaha classic cruiser. Looks like a Harley but costs thousands less and is more reliable.

Wow!

Is your third-gen then "crap" because, say, a WRX or a Mustang is faster than it is?

Since a "crap" Harley is quicker than your car, is your car "even more crappy" than a Harley?

What if one doesn't race around all the time. Should one put up with a short-lived, lesser quality, higher-maintenance, plastic, un-comfortable bike "just becase it's faster?"

Really?

Those are your opinions, and Bikes are in a TOTALLY different category than cars... if my car weighed 500lbs it would be fast as hell too! Point proved. Stop freakin out about stupid things...

Re: Maro vs. Harley
Harleys are nice bikes, and the new ones are especially nice. However, they are cruisers, not sport bikes. They would top out around 100 - 120 mph, depending on engine size and model. They are by no means worse than the Japanese bikes, believe me, I have had experience with both. But comparing a cruiser to a sports bike is unfair. These are two very different bikes, designed and made to do very different things.

Re: Maro vs. Harley
okay so far as the race goes proved wat? he obviously just got up to his cruising speed and then kept an even speed. All you did was finally catch up to someone who prolly nvr even realized you thought you could race him.
On that note sounds like you did a damn good job keeping the speed through the curves and good job not crashing, know plenty of ppl who would have lol.

Anyway all through my family people own bikes. My father owns a police edition 01 Harley ultra, cousin-in-law owns a suzuki (one of the better models lol, damned if i know wat it is). Got a cousin in n.c. who owns a buell (this is made by harley btw n it might be that dirt one u were tlking bout) (one of the first ones b4 they looked like absolute ****, sry i hate the way they look no.... damn lightning) and got someone else who married into the family that has a hybussa (im sure spelling aint right so get over it). Whats my point? Everyone i know is happy with the bike they have. why? b/c it suits their lifestyle! my father does 7-8 trips 2000 miles one way and without that crusier that just aint possible. My cousin in n.c. will race anyone n beat just about neone (thing isnt stoke anymore lol. but when it was that buell was still real freaking quick, i know hes a minimum of 180 on it....). Anyway far as the 500lb comment you made its no different. that ultra ways 800+ dry weight no rider and a sport bike, even with the rider, ways how much? So yeah if your car weighed 500lbs then the bike should way .... wat 20 lol? far as any negative comment about harley's craftman ship.... i've been to the plant in P.A. and seen some of the bikes they dont sell cuz it dont pass their inspection.... little paint dribble and its a no! plus a good bit of the bike is assembled by hand where as sport bikes just arent..... ohh btw harley's are really reliable lol

back on topic though...... good job not crashing the car.... i just dont see wat exactly you proved? and guys a dumbass if you were going that quick and he hit the brakes, good job not killing him though

For one i could hear him on the gas, it was CONSIDERABLY louder when he was on the gas... and he WAS on the gas. I caught up pretty slow but i could him then he got off the gas and hit the brakes. Then tore off again....

lol lol lol. i bet you never thought you were gonna cause an argument or cause such hysteria from sharing a story about having a good time. i travel all over the country for work (crane operator) and there aint nothing funner than finding somebody to "run" with down the highway. believe me i have the speeding tickets to prove it. anyway, dont let these guys tell you that they wouldnt have done the same thing. if you wanna drive, drive. if not, GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i really wasn't trying to cause an arguement just say what u i thought, hmm maybe i do that too much..... ehh ohh well people will get over it eventually lol. Anyway my fathers harley is pretty loud even when he isnt "floored", made the mistake of thinking he was when he wasn't plenty of times before. And yeah i love just getting out on the highway or any road and finding someone or even a group of people who drive like you and then just sticking with em. Hell i aint saying i would have, just the other night i found out why everyone says those 98 mustang gts are so slow . that was fun lol anyway hope your enjoying the car just dont wreck..... ever lol

And those are like *** holes, but you proved how naive you are in saying a Harley is a POS, I have ridden / seen many a Harley that would have no trouble outrunning your car.

Many sportbikes lack the V-Twin torque, they are geared for 200 MPH and if you like them for that feel free to do it and become a streak on the concrete.

Somebody will hose you off and mail your mommy a pair of soiled drawers.

Different tastes I understand. Saying you like sport bikes over cruisers like you said, I understand. Calling a Harley a POS is not an opinion, its an insult, simple as that.

agreed own 2 camaros, hate is such a harsh word, but i dislike ricers, yet i own a gsxr 1000, but sport bikes are a diff world. my gsxr is a daily driver and whenever i driver the camaro's they seem stupidly slow, fast is a very relative term....

don't compare yourself to them man, no reason to bring you or your car to such a low level. Maybe hes a lucky one and all the people around him are smart, i know by me i have no such luck. Though some of them have camaros... and some of em are are at least on the right track and have atleast a camaro. But most of them have ricers, and even a few imports.... atleast an import as a purpose but the ricers.... hmm where was i going with this?

yeah man i'd agree with that. But some of them do know how to fight, sadly just like most people now a-days they wont fight one on one though. Anyway looks like this thread is dying so talk to you later, and good luck with the car and the races lol.
