My own first time to that track....

I went to the track last wednesday, and i ran a crappy *** time.... for all the hours i have spent on my car its been disappointing me.... and so did the Nissan GT-R that was there(the car everyone seems to think is top dog). First off i ran a 16.0.....

60' -2.45
330- 6.8
1/8- 10.42 @ 69 mph
1000- 13.492
1/4- 16.0 @ 86 mph

Terrible times....
I am going carb over the winter with a set of Dyno Don's headers, also going to go 383...but i'm just humiliated with that time... other IROC's there were running low to mid 15's (suprised me thought they were faster). I saw a GT-R run a 12.4 and a C6 Z06 run an 11.4 while chipring 3rd gear it was a mad long chirp though. 505 hp helps! haha but don't rag on me too hard, i wanted to sell my car after that night..... but i'll just mod more and get rid of my EFI (seems like the problem is exhaust and tuning....)

Get the 60' times down a little and you'd be mid 15's lol The drag strip is a reality check for some people on how fast their car really is, sure was for me anyway. Keep at it, make it go quicker.

- True AC-Delco Plugs!, Splitfire wires.
- Shift kit(to be installed)
- Rear 3.73's soon.
- 3680lbs w/ Me+Stereo/Misc mods
my daliy driver
same motor, heads, intake but carbed 650dp, smaller cam, headers but i have 2.5 duals race muffler, no air filter, t5, 3.08 gears, 3480lbs. You have a/c? i have a/c and smog pump with no lines.
BIG THING is im 2.2 seconds and 16+ mph faster in 1/4 mi. So i really think its to do with the tune and efi like u said fix that and u should be running mid 14 for sure!

if you could get your 60 ft down to 2.0 you would run a 15.0-15.2 second

That .1 off the 60' = .2 at the 1/4 is only true to a point. When your car is this slow, I don't see that being the case. Look at the MPH, that's only good for mid 15's...and if he hooks better, that MPH will go down, so really....I'd say mid 15's at best in current condition/state of tune.

Re: My own first time to that track....

How warn is your suspension?

It seems to get neglected and a soft suspension kills off the line times and keeps the power from the ground. My SHO runs roughly the same 60' and that really shouldnt be the case with your car. I'm trapping early 90's and running high 15.7s tho. Tho if you got it tuned properly you should be crushing those times you have now.

Don't let it sit there and idle the whole time if you were doing that. 15 min wait isn't bad at all really, I've had longer waits. When I had a 305 in my car, first runs were horrible. Think I went from a worst of 15.90's to a best of 15.21 in the same day. MPH hovered around 89-90 the whole time but 60' times were all over the place. Best 60' was a 2.19 on street tires squeezing the throttle down quickly instead of mashing it off the line.

Re: My own first time to that track....

You felt bad that night? Imagine if your car ran my car's time, lol. Even though my stupid stock 4L60E slipped at like every possible moment, lol. Anyways, it's all in your tune like I (and I see many others have) said. Get er swapped to carb and tuned (plus some suspension mods) and you'll be golden. Don't give up on her, just takes time, patience and hard work..... o and of course like pretty much anything else.... money, lol. Good luck dude, lemme know how it goes.

Complete agreeance. In all honesty if you want your track times to go way down work on tune and then suspension in that priority.

I lied to you before I looked through my old time slips. I'm trapping slower by a lot (88) and my 60' was better then yours. My best was a 2.335 in a heavy sedan with horrible suspension. I'm anxious to see what it can do with a proper tune.

Did it feel like it bogged off the line?

car needs a tune up, lesss weight and much better launch. Car has more in it, its you that needs improved. You have to drive it there and bring that power out.

First time at the track is never your best
