My camaro versus 383 Chevy pickup?
My Car:
87 Camaro 350. Hooker headers, 600 cfm edelbrock carb,edelbrock performer intake, zexel torson posi 10 bolt with 3.23 gears
My cousin's Chevy 1500:
383 stroker putting out around 300 horse. Throttle body. Everything else is stock, manual transmission. Short wheel base 2 door
Pretty sure my odds are low but i'm hoping i'm light enough that my weight and posi may give me a chance. I like my cousin but he still picks on me since he is older. Would be fun to out run him
. So whats the guess, i'll beat him,keep up, or get left way behind? Both motors are rebuilt also...

I have a 383 chev truck, its a 91 4x4 ext cab converted to TPI with ASAM Runners, LPE intake, comp 4x4 cam with Edelcrap RPM heads. Speed wise its about on par with a L03 F-body. TQ wise its about the same speed with the plow blade on the front and the car trailer with a car on the back as it is hauling nothing.
Granted I am heavier and auto but with more mods, so I say you'll win.

That's pathetic.
If it's truly putting out 300hp you're going to win...heavier truck with what sounds like a junk 383....get some traction and he'll be staring at tail lights.

Nothing pathetic about a 300hp 383 that makes 500ft lb of torque. The power you will want in a truck is down low for pulling that heavy body, trailers, pulling stuck trucks out of the mud, etc. Since HP is a function of torque and rpm, a low rpm torque monster is not going to have a lot of horsepower.

i agree with fly89gta a 383 that only cranks 300??? i built my fathers 383 in his nova and we got 490hp and 515lbs and its got iron heads
ive taken junk wore out 350s and got almost 300 out of them sounds like somebody needs to go back to the drawing board
but back on topic if thats all the power that the truck has you will win
