Re: IROC-Z vs a fairlady ZX
reviving as well frankely im bored! The guy in the 280zx is really getting on my nerves, first i hear him way down the street nailing it and flying into the neighborhood, then while leaving i notice now he has some really ugly blue bulbs in his headlights and once again, while im outside with the camaro he revs it up passing by, then while leaving he thinks its necisary to try to peel the tires, which by the way was an FAIL he shoots off on the main road, and im stuck with my hears pratically blown out and this is an true *****, he seriously barely got any where at w.o.t with no tire spin.
Im seriously sick of this guy and really want to just stomp this guy so maybe he'll shut up and not always go flying by, btw he also does the same thing in his also annoying small toyota pickup.
Trust me your understand my frustration once you here this guys annoying exhuast, expecially on the ZX.
Ok sorry for my rant
also here is an link i found, i know its an anniversary edition (gold/black) and is an auto, i think its an 80 if i remember right and i also belive an 2+2, hers some specs of an 79 which i belive is close to no diffrent then an 80.

Re: IROC-Z vs a fairlady ZX
guaranty you'll get burned..
I have a shitty 87 200sx SE with a 5 speed Sohc 300zx motor (160hp)
a 280zx is lighter and more powerful
I smoke my freind's iroc every time. He even has a tranny shift chip
First time i did it he thought my car was turbo. by like the 1/2 mile i was 20-30 car lenghts ahead of him
Here's a video of my car.

Re: IROC-Z vs a fairlady ZX
it also says on your vid you have TONS OF MODS.
plus iv never seen his car pull away nearly as quick and i belive he'll have me from roll but im nearly positive i could smoke him from 0-60.

Re: IROC-Z vs a fairlady ZX
Mines got intake to throttle body, cat back exhuast, msd ignition coil, 65mm throttle body, and i bumped the **** out of the timming.
but even with all that its not more then 175 crank hp
My car would get smoked by any turbo Z with decent tires.
here's another vid with the speedo in view.

If your car isn't at least this fast then you'll get smoked
I don't recommend you talk **** to him but I would race him just to see if you can.

Re: IROC-Z vs a fairlady ZX
If you want him to slow down in your neighborhood do what my dad did a few years back, throw a brick through his windshield.... lol. It was back when there was a chop shop/drug smuggling place down the road. We live in a nice neighborhood and these guys moved in down the road and were stripping out the vehicles and stuffing them with drugs then replacing the internal plastics. Well this cat was always flying up and down the road at probably 80 mph. Its 25 mph on our road. My dad had warned him a few times to slow down.... He didn't listen. We actually didn't see that guy drive by the house ever again.

Re: IROC-Z vs a fairlady ZX
haha thats going an little over board for me but i see the perspective.
Hes not really going to fast expect its when he comes around the corner from the main street and cuts it kinda close and im kinda worried at times because the durango is often parked in front of the house and i live almost on the corner.
I bet that brick flying thru his winshield really scared him though!

Re: IROC-Z vs a fairlady ZX
I get that all the time and yes it can drive a person nuts!!! The best thing is to be the bigger person and just ignore it (if you don't already). That car won't make it to the day you get to race him, so don't be concerned with it. It does make for some good motivation though. Just make sure that if the race happens his girlfriend is there to see him lose, that way his ego will be killed too!

Re: IROC-Z vs a fairlady ZX
at this point i just ignore it but seriously it does get extremely annoying to hear him go shooting by at 2 o'clock in the morning, and he's always doing that with his girlfriend. So if i do end up racing him someday i'll make sure to get it on vid
A while ago his girlfriends younger brother told me he's selling the car and looking to buy an camaro, it seems he said also the guy wants something similar to mine or i might just be thinking of that.

Re: IROC-Z vs a fairlady ZX
hey dont be worried about those cars, I raced my cousins 87 300zx a couple weeks back, and just smoked him, he was a 5 speed too, I knew I would destroy him so I just smashed the accelerator outta the hole, I was beating him with no traction, I was peelin till about 45 mph than after that it shifted and was gone, my car even kept up with my bro in laws crotch rocket until I hit 3rd then he would start pullin away
Re: IROC-Z vs a fairlady ZX

That's a Ninja 250, they top out at 110-115 miles per hour, with an incredible 35 Horsepower. Arguably the only jap bike that a third gen (except for the few SERIOUSLY modified ones out there) could hang with.
If you're talking something like a GSXR 750, 1000, Ninja ZX10, ZX12, R1, CBR 1000, etc.... or even the little 600's. GSXR 600, R6, CBR 600, you're done. All of them bikes I mentioned will hit 60 in less than 4 seconds. In the case of the 1,000's, plus that ZX12 mentioned, some skilled riders have managed to hit 60 in the high 2 second area.
I've only owned one thing that could hang with a Jap bike of any sort. My YZ250 two stroke, that could consistantly pull 4 second 0-60's spinning the whole way, in dirt. I went up against an older CBR600F4i once (on the road, where I got a bit of traction
), and whooped him until I ran out of gear, right around 75 MPH.Anyway, back onto topic, I just now realized how much of a joke it is to be worried about a 1980 something 280. They're 17-18 second cars..

Re: IROC-Z vs a fairlady ZX
no its a katana 600, and he hadn't ever raced it from a stop so he got the front wheel poppin and I think that's one reason why I was staying with him till third, and yeah I kno those Ninja 250 are POS, my buddy started learning on one of those, there exhaust tone is the saddest thing ever, he sold it recently and bought himself a gsxr 600

if you dont like this section why dont you just go...... read a different section
Re: IROC-Z vs a fairlady ZX
I dont know what you got done.... but no, and hell no if you dont have traction.
You did not beat a katana 600 in any way. a bike will almost always woop on a car off the line.
i call bullshit

Re: IROC-Z vs a fairlady ZX
I NEVER said I beat it, he started between the 300 and me, the front wheel kept lifting, he would have to get off and back on the gas, this is the only reason I could see as to why I was keepin up with him, I never passed him, or ever started to reel him in, but was able to stay with him for a while, till my car shifted, Im not makin it up, Im just posting what happened, thats why I never said I beat it, because its obvious a car wont beat a crotch rocket, Katanas are supposed to be running 12's, due to his launch he was running either high 12's or low 13's, possibly mid 13's but who knows by the time I hit 100 he had me by quite a few car lengths.

Re: IROC-Z vs a fairlady ZX
I just saw 2 of the most beautiful 300ZX cars today! Wow impressive! we cruised about 45 miles together, and I can tell you the car was nothing but POWER!
Looks really sweet too! I would definitely own one of them

Re: IROC-Z vs a fairlady ZX
I just came across this so thread bump!
I'll race you in my Zed... hehehe
If it is an aniversary eddition then it is not a turbo. I have driven the turbo 280zx's and I had a turbo swap in my current Zed. That thing was friggen fast and I was able to destroy lt1/ls1 stock camaros. Of course I was boosting 15psi with a standalone fuel managment system.
Now I have swapped to the darkside and installed a 94 lt1 from a trans Am. I have to bleed the clutch and fix an issue with my rear suspension then I'd be happy to race ya in your 305...
Oh by the way my current car weighs in at 2500pds and I weight 140... so yeah.
