From a dig or roll??
Hi everybody, I want to hear your opinions about street drag racing from a dig and a roll, which one you like and why. I will go first. I like racing from a stop because first and foremost, thats how it is at the strip. I feel like thats the true way to drag race, all this racing from a roll is an excuse for wrong wheel drive cars to "hook" and have at least a better chance from what they did from a dead stop (should of bought and built a real car instead!!) I was arguing with somebody I know, and were talking about this subject, he is all about racing from a roll, and I was debating with him that the only way to really race is from a stop, I also said go to the drag strip and show me how many times you see a race from a roll, yea NONE. I'm not completly against racing from a roll, just when its time to get down and do this, well dead stop, lets go. Thats my opinion about the matter, lets hear yours.

Re: From a dig or roll??
I don't get roll racing either - chance encounter on a highway is fine, but to set them up
. 9 outta 10 the car with the better power / weight ratio will win everytime and it reduces the driver mod, but hey, to each his own.
All I know is that if I can takem' from a roll - I'll humiliate them from a dig.

Re: From a dig or roll??
I like digs, but when i go out and i am not intending on street racing, then someone wants to run and i am not prepared and i tell them that, they will offer a roll race and i then usually accept. Otherwise, you tell me if my car does well from a dig on radials:

When i know i am going to play, i will strap on the ET streets.

Re: From a dig or roll??
yea zones89rs, I see you have a good point about roll racing, which as I said before I'm not completly against roll racing, as you stated when you have radials on, then yea it helps to race from a roll. I seen your vid and it didnt look that bad taking off to me, what is your suspension setup?

Re: From a dig or roll??
It has all thee tubular crap, Spohn TQ arm, BMR panhard, LCAs. 4.30 gears with the power the 6.0 puts out is just horrible on a 245 radial. Going with a 295 radial so i hope it helps. I just dont like the Nittos, they are too short. I need a 28 inch tall radial on the street.

Almost every time a car tries to run me its from a roll... but I hardly ever drive in town. Plus from a roll the tires last longer.

Well, since they are so costly, i am probably getting with my upholstery guy that does work for my company and actually have the dash covered as soon as i figure out what i will be doing with the front speaker holes. Then, a new paint job will be in the works as well.

Re: From a dig or roll??
I can appreciate both styles of racing. I will admit, me and my group of car buddies ussually only do roll races but we have a 600 whp supra, 520 whp LS1 Z28, a few 500 whp cobras, etc. The races would be no fun if everyone was just sitting there fighting for traction. I love a good dig race but hooking can be tricky on the street and IF you can get that 500 or so HP to the wheels and hook, your pushing your luck of breaking something every launch. Thats why we'll go easy on the cars and roll race, and then when we hit the local drag strip, thats when the hard launches come out. The Z28 has gone through 2 12 bolt rears already at the strip! And it's even less fun to break on the street.

Re: From a dig or roll??
Not sure what brand it is but I'm pretty sure both times it was because he started wheel hopping like a **** and it grenaded. Car goes 11.0 at 127. He was shooting for 10's and on the last run he broke it lol. Sucks but he's going to try again next summer after a fast intake I think.
