You should win because I mean the is only about 40 pounds difference and a 2 hp difference but yours has a lot more torque for getting off the line better (well not really alot more but yeah). Also yours is rear wheel drive and from what I have heard rear wheel drive cars put more power to the road. However someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Engine: 2.8l v6
Transmission: 5 Speed Manual
Axle/Gears: Probably the stock 3.42
Re: Who would win?

given the numbers, you should win... i had a 2.8l camaro and i couldnt beat anything in that car, the 3.1l isnt much stronger/faster than the 2.8l...
but the stratus is a crap car...

i think youll have a chance given the numbers...

they dont put more power down i wouldnt think (because the only thing missing from a FWD car is the driveshaft they have every other drivetrain part that RWD cars do), but the weight transfer of the car to the rear wheels helps alot for traction... FWD sucks for any type of racing unless you spend alot of money on the suspension, which to me isnt worth it...

Re: Who would win?

There is less of a percentage of drive train loss in FWD cars, so RWD does not put more power to the ground.

What is the gear ratio in your camaro

Win is what ever car is running better condition wise. His gears are probably 3.42s.

You sure about the gears? A vast majority of camaros came out with 3.23s. Regardless, the lower the gear ratio the better your chances are. It's a dodge stratus lol enough said just put your mul-it on and then they will know you mean business

Re: Who would win?

Both are common gears for v6 3rd gens from what I have seen.

Also doesn't matter how much of a pos the stratus seems v6 3rd gens are tech "pos" too by that logic.

Re: Who would win?

Ok, my friend and i were laughing about the idea. Knowing that I have a fighting chance to beat a dodge sedan like his, we'll do it. Thanks guys, both for the input and the humor. More input would prove to be funny I have no doubt, for all of us for sure...

Re: Who would win?

2002 stratus 2.4 - 1/4 mile 17.3
1990 camaro 3.1 - 1/4 mile 17.3

Should be close based on the rated times. It's going to be a drivers/ launch based race.

And FYI RWD cars DO NOT have less power loss to the wheels than FWD. FWD cars have much less since the only thing coming out of the tranny is the front axles which connect directly to the wheels. RWD cars have a large driveshaft as well as a rear axle where the power has to make a 90 degree turn to the wheels.

Did you set a date so that we know when to log back on and see who won? The reason I ask is because I am in the mood to watch a two minute race right now. If you want some more power start pulling some stuff off of it!

I suspect the driver of the camera car that starts out behind both of you will win.

Ricepattie5, where did you get your info on vehicle weight? 3086 is light even for a race car. Do you have any weight reduction?

He will be filming you thru his back window right after he hits second gear.
