Some punk at school wants to line em up and run..

This guy at school has an 89 Rustang LX-302,5-speed,Ford B-303 cam, H-pipe with flowmasters, underdrive pulleys,3.55's-you know-typical stang banger stuff. I have an 83 TA with a 9:1 383,Comp XE268 cam,Edelbrock RPM intake, and a worked over,non-computer Q-jet. Also have Pertronix module. 3.23 gears with limited slip. 700-R4 with shift kit. Hp wise I've got him beat, but his car weighs a lot less.Who should win?

I'm agree with you to say that LX stang are much lighter than f-body. But LX have no traction compare to f-body. With all your mods you should smoke him easily.

We can elaborate on theory alone or you can get out there and line 'em up.

Hopefully the kids got some $$$, cause its not worth racing for free if you get caught.

Try getting him to run for $50

If anyone cares, I broke my 700-R4 so Im putting in a TH350. While Im under the car, I plan to slap on Hooker full length headers, true duals-not sure what kind of mufflers to use yet-thinking Hooker Aerochambers-what should I expect this to do for my ET's(currently 13.1@105)?

You win, just make sure you don't spin the tires off the line. There is no way he can keep up even with a 400lbs diet. You have the torque and then some. Full length headers are good for great for torque and high end hp, I couldn't give you numbers but you should feel a difference at all rpms, not a lot, but will feel different. What cfm is the carb? What cam grind do you have?

actually, LX's hook up decently well, and are pretty light. and with a well tuned motor, they often hit mid 13's with a simple gear swap. with his few perf mods (not familiar with that particular cam he has) he might be in the low 13's as well.
I still think you will win, but it might be pretty close.
line em up and let us know.

A TH-350?? Must not value your gas mileage... A 700R4 w/ a Transgo shift kit & a corvette 2-4 servo should give you all you want plus Overdrive... Hell I plan to dump my 700R4 in favor of a T56 w/ 2 overdrives...
Just my .02,
Clint

I agree about the 700R4, could've just built it up for performance instead of putting another in.

I agree that the 700r-4 is a good trans when it gets a hi-po rebuild and the vette servo and shift kit,my trans has a shift kit in it and kicks a$$,i have owned 3 different camaros and they all had stock 700r-4s with low mileage on them and even a fresh stock rebuilt one and they dont compare to the one i have now with the shift kit in it.

If it aint a V-8 that $hit aint fast!,unless its a GN,lol!

305 tpi,700r-4 with shift kit,My mods are minimal, just a bunch of little $hit.Anyone know where to get underdrive pulleys for a v-belt set up?
