Who would win in a race?

A 98 mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 with turbo mufflers and a 6 speed or a 96 WS6 Trans-Am with ram air, 58mm throttle body, hypertech power programmer, 3in. Flowmaster exhaust, 3.23 gears, and its lowered an inch. It is an auto. Thanks

Trans am should destroy it, especially with those mods, must admit that the mitsubishi will be right on his *** bumper in top end.

this is retarded, you guys all have it backwards....the mitsu will put like 3 cars on it off the line because of the awesome 4 wheel drive launch, and then once the 4-wheel drive drag hits on the top end the WS6 will pull it in hard!

Ahhhhh yes it has AWD but it also has alot of Turbo LAG, Trans am has well over 350 ft lb of torque and would get off the line better.

turbo lag doesnt matter when you have a 6 speed remember.....just dump the clutch from 4000 and leave TA for an 1/8 mile at least.

What the hell is a VR6? If you mean VR4, I'm 99% sure that they were only available with a 5-speed (91-93) and a 6-speed (94+). No automatics except with the base 3000GT.

Sorry my money is on the VR-4,the car runs i believe low 13s out of the box,the ta will be there but the lauch of that awd will just hook up and be out,the wheels probably wont even spin at all,as for the ta he will have more trouble hooking up,i believe it will be tight if the guy can drive the ta but my money is on the VR-4,tell the guy to get a supercharger and then the 3000gt will be toast.

No, it doesn't run low 13s out of the box. The first gen cars (91-93) run 14 flat to high 13s, the second gen cars (94+) run mid 13s. This is stock without an aftermarket BOV or boost controller or anything else. Make sure it is stock, because with a $450 boost controller, those things can run 13 flat or better. The AWD is very parasitic at higher speeds, so in reality, the 3KGTs are actually only putting a little over 200hp to the ground. My votes on the T/A, race him and let us know what happens.

ET? The POS runs 15s.
Also own '83 Firebird 2.8 2bbl. 155K miles.
ET? Break out the calendar!

I wish the TA the best of luck but i have my doubts,a 99 vr-4 will hit low 13s with the right driver, even if its mid 13s with some punk behind the wheel then the TA is toast because most guys cant get the cars to hook up,the vr-4 doesn't need any help to get it to hook up,let me know the sad ending to this.

Have a 2000 WS6 i destroyed mitsub#tchy vr4 as well as a supra and a 300zx TTs. The VR4 nudged a little ahead(1 to 2 ft) on start. But cake walked it after that. Money on the TA.

If we are talking about LT1s and LS1s(both stick cars), than they ARE superior to their Jap counterparts, with the right driver and of course, all things(mods) being equal.
