I am pi$$ed!
I was out washing my mom's 96' vette when a 2000 Mustang GT pulls up to a stoplight next to the gas station. So I pull up behind him and look at the stupid horsey on the back window and the Ford sticker and smile. He looks in his rearview and says "Oh $hit, it's on." So he dumps the clutch around the corner and I follow. We get up to an empty road and he's like "whenever you're ready dude." So I floor it (automatic), no tire spin, it hooks and flies. He squeels his tires a little and goes (manual). I was about half a car length up on him until about 55 mph when he started catching up! And by 75 mph he passed me! WTF! So we pulled over and he said he just had exhaust on it (it did sound nice, not as nice as the vette though). I think he had gears, intake and headers maybe though.
What would it take for a GT to beat an LT1 vette?
Would these cause loss in time
I didn't build any revs, just floored it
We had a full tank of gas (extra weight)
It's my mom's car so it's not "driven" (hard) much would this cause the computer to ***** out?
I don't think she's ever changed the air filter
Oil was 5w-30 and it was 88 out
The vettes a convertable auto and the 'stang's a manual coupe

Eh, its not that hard to beat. Since you have a convertible you lose on all the weight advantages that the corvette has. I mean a 2000 GT has i think 265hp @ 300 lbs/ft. Now if he had a full exhaust that would definately help out the dual cam the 4.6's have. And gears? with a manual and any gears over 3.23 would definately make it for a race. Plus you have auto and he was probably in the power band when you gunned it. The LT1's i thought had like 270hp @ 350lbs/ft of torque. Correct me if im wrong but and if he had an intake, id put my money on the GT too. Heh i raced one with my friends little brother (12) and i stayed like 1/4 car ahead of him and i had stick and he was an auto. Those things are pretty quick, dont feel bad = D im sure if the GT was stick that i raced i woulda got spanked = /

A 1996 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible with a second generation small block chevy engine (LT1) and a 4L60-E automatic transmission. It is black with black interior.
well the '96 vette vert is a 3300 lbs shipping weight vehicle then the curb weight is another 150lbs on that at least and then the driver. There could be more options on the vette (I think A/C was standard?) which just adds weight. The LT1 was 300hp and 335 torque so theres not a huge advantage of hp over the mustang. I'm pretty sure that the mustang also doesn't have anything standard, so his stang could be without any weight adding options. Sometimes things don't go your way.
