'89 G92 305 5spd VS 94 Z28 auto??
welp just wondering if I have a chance with my best friends car. He just bought a 94 Z with 50K. It has the LT1 w/ Auto and not sure what gear but it runs like 1500rpm at 60mph. The Z is all stock except for a Borla exhaust. He let me drive it and it was fast but not overly fast as I expected it to be. I think my Iroc with the mods I have (see sig),I might be able to hang with him. I know my car feels stronger at the start but I'm afraid it will die out at the end. Any remarks?

I raced a 99 T/A with a Flowmaster catback and through first gear I took him by 2 car lengths (he was auto). When I hit second he played catchup until about 60 when he was next to me then 80 he was about 2-3 car lengths ahead of me. Now those cars have 315hp instead of the measily 275hp like the 94's, plus i think all the new T/A's come with 3.23's and the 94's came with 2.77's. I would put my money on the 94 but get some headers and it would definately be game.

I also noticed you don't have the free mods all done (neither do i), get tpis airfoil, and synthetic oil, its maybe worth .1 I had the ram air on my car awhile ago and i liked it, i felt 2nd gear had great pickup. Port your plenum for maybe another .1 in the 1/4, it will help it breathe a lot better and will definately love the ram air. I plan to put the ram air on but not with duct tape, im gonna bolt some air ducts to the air damn and see if that works any better.

I used to sell 94 Camaro's and they only came with a 3.23 w/6 spd. With the auto, you got the 3.23, but 3.42 was an option.
I think that you didn't notice much diff in acceleration due to the flat torque curve of the LT1. It's really smooth. A friend of mine had a 91 Stang GT and I had a 94 Z. Both sticks. His felt quicker, but when we went to the strip, I ran 14.5 and he ran 15.3. It's sometimes hard to tell by what your butt feels. Just do us a favor and beat him.
I love my car more than I ever liked the 94. Just MO. I just need to build mine up now.
