Just wondering how fast everyone has had their car and what mods they have. An estimation of HP would be nice too along with the type of car.
Thanks for the time.

95mph... speeding scares the **** outta me. No real places to do it around here. I would love to find a speedway or road course so my speeding wouldn't be illegal.

somewhere over 140mph. Cause I once raced my friends supra. And he was going 135 and I was slowly pulling away from him. So I"m guessing maybe 138 or so. I was reving at 4,200. And then another time I was running from a cop. and reved up to 4,600. So judging by the mph estimator I was going about 147 or so. And judging by HP estimators. I should have like 240hp.

Well in my 86 Sport Coupe, I buried the 85 speedo, so I'm guessing around 90. But in my Grand Am I was up at 105. Stopped there cause I was on a long bridge, and the crosswinds pushed the car over almost 2 lanes, and that scared the crap outta me.

Right after i got my car it was running kindy crappy cause the injectors were clogged. I put in some fuel treatment and went to unclog them. I got out on this repaved highway(which i have never in my life seen a cop on) and opened her up. When they finally cleaned up i took off like a rocket. I pegged the 145 speedo in no time and it kept goin. I went till it floated the valves and let off. It was scary as hell but likewise just as fun. Oh and my car is stock. L98.

Buried the speedometer when I first got the car. This was still with the automatic at the time. I guess I hit ~150.
Since I put the T56 in I've had it up to 135 but backed off. The car had alot left in it. I was in 5th gear at around 4000 rpm.

Let me begin by saying that I in no way condone driving as fast as possible on public roadways. It is selfish, dangerous and often stupid. Now here's my story. When my best friend and I were in high school, he had a 90 chevy pickup extended cab that he modded. It didn't have anything too extreme, just cam, intake, exhaust, chip, he didn't even touch the valvetrain. His tranny was very well-built. This truck could whip most cars in town, not to mention the trucks, probably because of the stock gears (it's a small town, about 6000 people.). One day we were driving back from the parts store in a town about 20 miles away on a back road. On this road there is a good strech of straight road, I mean at least 3 or 4 miles. He gunned his pickup and gets up to 75, 80, 85, where the speedo stops. You guys who have seen early 90's truck speedos know what I'm talking about. It's not like a dial, but it has a colored disk. Anyways, the speedo is maxxed out and we keep going faster and faster. Eventually, I guess the disk in the speedo disk has turned so far that it ran out of color, because it looks like it is making another revolution. The disc part of the speedo begins to turn black around the beginning of the numbers. All the way up to the 40 mph mark as he accelerates! I have no idea how fast we were going and feel lucky that we didn't kill ourselves. I haven't been that scared very often.
the fastest I ever went in the 87 was 148 mph.. verified by a DPS friend's radar gun.. the needle was about to break on my 85 mph speedo.
the RS.. slams right into the damn speed limiter at ~112.
fastest i've ever PERSONALLY driven was 156 in an RX-7
fastest i've ever BEEN(on the ground) was 186.. in a beautiful Callaway ZR1.. pure bliss.

I went 110 (at about 3500 rpms) when i first got my GTA, not cause i wanted to see how fast i could go, but cause i was 30 miles from home and my alternator was not charging the battery, coasted into my drive way.

-The fastest I have driven in the U.S. is 137 MPH. This was in my 89 IROC-Z L98 2.77 gears. I would have gotten faster but, I ran out of straight highway. The fastest I have ever driven was in 1991 in Germany. I was in the Army stationed south in Bavaria. I was driving a German friends 550+HP 1982 Ruf conversion Porsche 930 Turbo 3.6L (a bored over 3.3L) I got it up to 312 KPH (down the Auto Bahn) which is about 193.5 MPH. That is way too fast for any highway. I was flashing the high beams the whole way -praying to God no one would pull in front of us. I was 21 then and must have thought I was immortal.
...Next time I'll use the race track.

My wife was driving my first 91 Z28 back from a long trip and I was sleeping in the passenger's seat, when I woke up to the sound of the engine screamming. I asked what the hell she was doing and she replied, "I'm trying to keep up with that Ferarri that just passed us!". We got up to somewhere between 145 and 160 mph before the front end felt like it was lifting up and we had very little steering when we came to a bend in the highway. Although the car was still gaining speed. That's when we decided to slow down. When I look back on it, it was a pretty stupid thing to do, but dam it was fun!

I just got my car out of the shop for a complete transmission rebuild. I got the corvette shift sleeve/valve put in my car. I put the speedo past 145mph this morning. Still gainin speed when I let off. Really don't know quite how fast I was going, but it was 4 in the morning hardly anyone on the roads. Didn't know that sleeve would make such a big difference.

Ive had my 2000 z28 up to 150 when i had to let off cause i was running out of road. The needle was still moving fairly quickly too. Ive hit the speed limiter at 112 in my 92 rs on the same road.

107 in my stock 90 RS.
95 in my old 85 Toyota Pickup 22R 4 speed. Now that was one very scary and bumpy ride.

well my speedo only goes up to 85 and i got it stuck there one time and still had a few inches till the pedal was on the floor i'd say i was up around 100 the problem was i came to the top of a hill with a huge dip and almost shot my underside into the pavement. bottomed out hard but she never got loose on me

I thought I would chime in.
I had my Camaro up to about 145, having a lot more to go, but even more in my head to take it easy...
I have hit 135+ at the track by keeping in it after the lights... almost stopping for the second turnoff at englishtown (gotta love Baer brakes).

Once new suspension, transmission, and guages go in, I'll try it again.
