Ford Focus?

This girl at my work has a 99' or 2000' Ford Focus. She is always telling me that she street races and beats all kinds of cars. Including a 99'Cobra and a 4th gen Camaro.I am guessing that it was a four cylinder mustang and a 3.4 liter 4th gen,and she still lost.Anyway, she thinks that she can beat me in my dad's 93'Trans-Am six speed.Does anyone know the hp/tq ratings and 1/4 ET's for these cars? Thanks

I know the focus ZX3 has a 2.0 liter zetec four cyclinder. It is supposed to be pretty trick but only puts out something like 125 horsepower. Definately could not keep up with a honda or toyota engine. It is just a fuel economy car and engine for chicks to buy and think they are spoty.

Its funny you mention that, this girl i met last night had a ford focus and wanted to race me, she put a chip, exhaust, K&N, and new spark plug wires on it after watching fast and the furious and she thought she could spank my '87 SC LG4 with flowmaster Catback. These focus' are slow!! i launched good and before we got out of the intersection my rear end was at her front end and by 45 i had a car length and a half on her. We played at a couple more stop lights and the outcome was the same i even gave her a head start one time. You should have NO problem. Good luck

Dude,Ijust raced her in my 90' RS with a 3.1 and only exhaust, intake, chip, and a .30 bore and left it in overdrive.I kicked her *** . Now she swears she wasn't trying hard and claims that she still can beat me in my dad's 13 second 93' Trans-Am 6 speed. So I told her to bet $100 on the race but wouldn't.All I can say is what a dumb B*tch.

Heh ford came out with a 170hp and like 230 lbs/ft of torque 2001 Focus. Comes with alloy 17" rims, a 6spd or 5spd tranny, and some gears I think. Heh, watchout L03 owners, this car is gonna eat j00 for breakfast. Ford wants to get in the import scene therefore making this car so that people will try and mod it, it doesnt look THAT bad either, least better than the gay 125hp ones.

There is a Factory built performance FOcus in my town. They put all this crazy stuff on it like lowering kits and exhaust and chips and stuff. It was supposed to be a screamer and have all this power. The stock hondas kick his butt and now they nicknamed it the SLOWCUS!

I wouldn't even start my formula to race a ford focus. My Z24 would smoke it and my 83 1.6litre toyota corolla would give it a good run.

90iroczee,

I guess if this little piece of $h!t has 170hp and 230lbs/ft the LO3 should not be the only one looking out, considering is lighter than 3rd gens. Plus 230lbs/ft of torque out of a 4cyl? correct me if im wrong but this cant be right.

You should win, but why has thirdgen and 4th gen Iron become so hard to get cheap mods for. Ever look at imports, you can get headers, cehap, turbos form 1200 bucks, nos kits in a zillion colors just to name somethings. I bet if the aftermarket put as much drive into American Iron the demand for them would swell too...

I call it the selling out of America, it starts with cars, then technology, then labor, then we are ready for the takeover becasue there will be nothing american left anymore...

The reason people buy a japanese car is because they think they can get good mileage, never have to work on the car, never breakdown, and they think they are fast. Then somebody in a formula 350 wastes his time one day and nails the throttle and leaves them like they are going backwards. Reality strikes and they realize they actually do not have a fast car. Then they pick up Import Tuner magazine and see that they can buy some stuff and have it put on their car and beat the formula, etc. So there is a bunch of stuff for them to buy, cause they need it. They pay as much for one header as we do for two. They buy one thing then another and keep geting closer to beating that firebird but usually never do because they fry the little beotch or run out of money. Just like in the late 70's I was in the Air Force and had a 65Gto 389 tri-power and my roomate had a 68 Cutlass with a 350. He got an intake and carb, then ignition, then rear end with low gears. Each time he got a little closer to beating the goat. When he finally got close I rebuilt my worn engine and it wasn't that close anymore. So he rebuilds his engine but didn't have the money for a bore job,new pistons, or have his rods resized and new rod bolts put in. Instead he bought a cam that was too big trying to beat me. Ended up blowing the engine up and never did beat the gto. Moral of the story: it is bests to start out with a car that is made for acceleration if that is what you want, and it is usually the least expensive way.

The SVT Focus costs over 4 times as much as the vette, and still was a second slower in the 1/4 mi. But its also not for sale because no one would buy it.
