This kid has an 86ish (I think) 4-Banger (no 5.0 badging) LX Vert. I am just wondering how bad I will beat him, and I really want to embarass him bad?
My cars an 86 LB9 WS6 with headers, cat-back, K&N, some ignition upgrades, underdrive pulleys, ported plenum (hopefully) and should be in full tune at time of "race". I think I'm looking at mid to high 14's (low 14's after "peanut cam" swap) how slow are these Stangs, how many cars should I have on him by 100?
I saw somewhere that stock they ran in the high 20's and 21's
Can a "sporty" car be that slow, even the new I-3 Electrical cars run high 18's, lol
This should be a fun race if I can ever get my car running right again...

its a conspiracy. the 4 banger mustangs are 4 cylinder engines with a little over 400 cubic engines. they have 2 spark plugs per cylinder, came stock with dual exhaust and a supercharger, and ran 20's in the 4 mile, not 1/4 mile. your car will creamed by these monsters, i wouldnt even try it. it may look like a 4 banger on the outside, but thats because they hid the other 4 cylinders within the main 4 cylinders. why do you only see 4 plug wires? because the others are hidden within the first 4. why only 1 exhaust pipe? the other is within the main pipe. i wouldnt dare touch one of these beasts, you shouldnt either...
Lol... I am just wondering becasue when I got my car it was really out of tune with a horribly slipping tranny, and I had trouble keeping up with 4-banger Wranglers, so I am a little concerned

BTW they only produced 9,844 Mustang SVOs through 1984-1986 . the chances of that being the car is slim to none

My friend has an '85. With a brand new motor punched .030" over and a brand spanking new turbo. I helped put it in. His car is running 15 psi of boost on the regular fuel setting and 18 psi of boost on premium setting. 3" down pipe into one long piece of 3" tubing out the back. No cat, no muffler and very few curves. That car is mad fast, and scary. Run it up through first, and shift at 4600 rpm and the car has the ***** spin the car around. Woo Hoo! Just because it is a vert doesn't mean that he hasn't swapped in the turbo 2.3! Madwack! Checkout this site for more info. www.turboford.org

Im the simplest way put, you will a-s-s rape him. Convertibles are slower due to the 400 lbs of extra frame they have. If its an auto, then its even slower due to more weight.

I had an 85 LX Coupe 4 speed the lightest of the bunch and this thing was slower than he!!. I would get beat by Neons. I even had a fiberglass cowl induct hood (which made the car lighter). I thought it looked good, I knew my car was slow. I always had people messing with me.

My friend had an '89 Mustang LX hatchback. The thing was slow as $hit. The '89 LX 4 bangers have only 88 horse power. We used to make fun of him all the time...he finally got fed up with it and just bought a '95 6 cylinder stang....which i still disagree wit him on..but anything is faster than the 4 banger stangs. He was embarrassed to tell everyone it was a 4 banger...but eventually people found out..when he got beat in a race by an '89 beat up honda accord..which was stock and ran like garbage. You will embarrass him..trust me...well at least I know the '89's were slow as hell..i dont know about the verts...but I would imagine the same.

i have a friend that has one of those too it is sooo slow, the other day he messsed up somethin in it so now his dad who builds turbo engines for a living is rebuilding the engine and modding it for him. Those engines are slow as crap stock but they have unlimited capabilities because of the lightness of the car and the tons of mustang mods available especially on that engine there is tons of turbos out there for relatively cheap which if tuned right can make that car FLY... If this person is wanting to race you it prolly means that he HAS done stuff to it. I highly doubt unless he is dumb he will try to challeng you with a stock slow banger rustang. But then again he is drivin a ford
