I know this wont help. But I just launch mine by flooring it. Powerbraking would cause me to burnout. So I just smash the gas, a little squeel and get traction.
If your having traction problems, maybe start off smashing it to 1/2 throttle then bring it down to the floor.

Nope. You're wrong. It helped. That's what I was planning on doing and knowing that someone else has done it with success is good. I posted this on the drag racing board, but it takes weeks for those guys to respond. Keep the tips coming. Thanks.

i think the general consensus for the higher horsepower 350's is to hold the brake on and bring the rpms up to about 1000, then when it turns green just let off the brake and roll into the gas. if you can dead on floor your car and just squeel and go, you either have some big slicks on your car or a weak 350.

Mine may not be a 350, but i seem to have the best luck launching at right about 1000 RPMs as well, maybe it isn't just the engine but where this particular transmission is geared best to launch at with the stock TC. I dunno.

You have an LO3, you could launch at 1500rpms and barely squeal...

I just put mine in drive. Give the tires a quick turn over to clean them. It's said with street tires if you do long burnouts you can actually make the tires more slick. Then just smash it on the line. But I've never actually been to a drag strip just a stop light drag racer.

I hate rain! Didn't go to the track on Sunday because of it. It only lasted 20 minutes, but was enough to get me started working on my door locks. Oh well. At least now I konw how to launch with the thing. Thanks guys.
