94 formula vs. 2000 mustang gt

Well mine is stock and his has exhaust intake and gears. It was pretty obvious that he would win to me, but would i just need an exhaust to beat him or more than that?

he'd beat you as is...with exhaust on your car you guys would be damn close...i've seen bone stock LT1 formulas run 13.8-13.9 range...

like i said as is right now the stang would beat you...unless he sits there at roasts the tires off the line..

i got my odds on the formula 275 hp
compared to 260. plus i know the 350 has more tq than the 4.6 or 4.8 does in the stang.i think it is gonna be close tho. i hope u have a 5 speed and the stang gots a auto. but to me the tranny doesnt make a whole big difference. put a full can of octane boost in ur car when the tank is half full and kick some stang *** !!!

yeah but the stang has intake exhaust and gears...he's nowhere near 260 now...now that i think about it the formula is gonna have to have a few more mods than just an exhaust to keep up with the stang...

Just saying he has exhaust and gears won't help a thing. I'm not sure what stock gears are in a new GT, but what does he have now, the new GT's stock run a best 14.2. What kind of exhaust does he have, is that a cat-back or including headers too.

i Dont know that much detail about it. I know the exhaust comes out the side of the car before the rear wheel. I didtn get to ask him what all the stuff really was. The gears are whatever the imporvement over the stock is my guess.

He came from the factory with 3.27's...if he knows how the mod motor operates he's more than likely got 4.10's, if not he's probably got 3.73's. That side exhaust has actually been said to be more of a restriction than anything else. I've heard it'll kill between 5 - 10 hp, but I've never seen any dyno results to back that up. They don't make an aftermarket intake for that motor, so I'll assume you mean he's got a K&N air filter? Figure that he's probably making about 260 - 270 hp. With 3.73's if he doesn't roast the tires he's probably in the 13.7 - 13.9 range. I've rode in a manual LT1 and I was pretty impressed so if your car is anywhere near as quick as one of those, I'd say it's a driver's race.

On a side note...I'd watch out for some of those 99+ GT's, I've seen some guys put them in the 13.60 - 13.70 range bone stock, but others have trouble running quicker than 14.70's...go figure, eh?

Wanna clarify one thing...those 13.60 - 13.70 cars I'm refferring to are manual cars. Quickest I've seen a 4R70W car run bone stock is a 14.23 @ 97.something.

Wow that is quite a scale for 1/4 mile times. I still like the LS1 Camaro. The last issue of GMHTP magazine they ran with a bone stock 2001 SS weighing 3800lbs. in 91 degree heat a best of 12.9

------------------
I WOULD RATHER PUSH A CAMARO THAN DRIVE AN IMPORT

1983Z28 350w/ edelbrock performer RPM power package , dynomax shorty headers, 700R-4 with shift kit, 750cfm carb, edelbrock 3" exhaust system, 16" IROC rims and ASCD SS hood.

future mods:
completely done over suspension, black paint with flames,
T-56 almost ready to go in, TPI swap coming up

Wifes new car:

95Z28, AT, leather, T-tops bone stock for now.

future mods:
header to tailpipe replacement and a cold air intake. Then I am just going to leave it alone

Yea there is a huge discrepancy in 1/4 miles with the newer mustangs...mostly because of different skilled drivers. In the lastest muscle mustangs and fast fords they tested a bone stock '01 SS and ran a best of 12.96 in bad weather!

Last time I was at the track I saw a new Mustang GT (it had the new style scoop and wheels) with an auto running 15.1 all day long. Unless its a 5 speed, I wouldnt even worry about him. I spoke to the owner of the new stang at the track and he was very dissapointed with the performance of his new toy...he should have bought a chevy if he was looking for performance.
peace
