We had a 1970 hardtop with a 351C few years ago with a few mods and it ran strong up top, but at the track it never did very well because of the factory torque converter. It stalls way too low for where the cleaveland makes its horsepower thus killing the 1/4 mile time. I'd say if he's got it tuned properly it ought to run a high 14.

Yeah, both my mother and her boyfriend own separte '69 Mach 1's. I took her boyfriend's to prom, and I can guarantee you that I wrung that baby out. It's had a lot more work done to it, like an engine rebuild (basically stock), interior repanelling, and new paint. Anyways, I'm here to describe the performance. Yeah, I'd say it was hard to launch with the itty 205 tires on like 5 inch wheels. The 351 made good numbers, and it was actually able to keep me up with an NSX once it was moving. Yeah, that was the race I'll tell my grandkids about.
Overall, I'd say that the Mach 1 is going to run a low 15.
