90's T-bird V8, what's it run stock?

I got whipped by a 90's Ford Tbird today though I held him off for a 1/2 mile; I was in my '84 L69 T/A. I didn't think these things were all that fast without some work done to them. Seemed we were both giving it all we had with me in the lead, and all of a sudden it was like he hit a NOS button or something and passed me like I was standing still. Am I just misinformed about them being slow or do they actually move?

My old 92 t-bird Sport with the 5.0 302 V8 ran 16.1 totally stock (limited slip and 3.27 gears). With "free mods" - 160* stat, homemade ram air, cutted cat, flowmasters, k&n filter, ported MAF, bumped timing, AFPR, and pulley,, it ran 15.10s and was hard to get a good launch - nitrous had it running 13.80's - major sleeper - loads of fun. Our 97 with the 4.6 V8 ran 15.90 stock (also with 3.27 gears and limited slip) and with only the ram air, K&N, 180* stat, and cat back exhaust(cats still in place - no pulley, AFPR, or timing adjustment) ran a 15.39 in 42 degree weather - it likes to rev higher than the 5.0 - the 4.6 starts out much slower than the 5.0 did, but gets a kick about 3800 rpm. The 4.6 pulls much better from a kick than the 5.0 did. However, the 94 and 95 4.6 V8s had a different intake than the 96 and 97's and are about .25 seconds slower,, plus the 3.27 gear is not in all of them,, and what I can tell is worth at least .15 also. There were two other guys at the track with 4.6 T-birds when I ran that 15.39. One swears he was totaly stock running 15.60, the other guy had similar mods to me plus no cats and a shift kit and was running low 15.30s,, so we didn't believe he was totally stock,, maybe though,, it was 42 degrees and I was running a little lean.

Sounds pretty reasonable to me. I could tell for that 1/2 mile he had it pretty much maxed out (as did I), but then suddenly his exhaust tone got really "thick" sounding and that's when he flew by. Must have been shooting the happy gas.

Also, don't forget about the super coupes and turbo coupes. Some of the super coupes came from the factory with roots blown V6's making 300 hp The turbo coupes were the same turbo charged 2.3L engines in the SVO Mustangs...you know how fast turbo charged cars once they get into some boost. Early 90's t-birds are loads of fun because you never know what you're up against!

Just looked it up, I'm wrong. I was told they were making 300 hp from the factory, but it appears they were putting out 210 hp...My bad.

ya bout 210-215...Ford's idea is good..but the car is so damn heavy..though ya do headers a catback and a smaller blower pulley u can get it moving.
