'87 IROC-Z vz. '85 300zx turbo

I'm kinda figuring that I would loose because the 300zx is in alot better shape then my IROC (my car sat for 4 years before I got it and I am fixing everything) but my car has the 305 H.O. Carb, auto in it and everything is stock. the only info on the 300zx is that it is in very good condition and it is turbo, not to mention ten times lighter then my car. Well I was just wondering which one would win on the track or the stop light.

300ZX TT = 300 HP = fast with a good driver, probably mid 13's i've never seen one run before though so thats just a guess. I know they're a bit faster than a 3000GT Vr4 and only come running like 6 PSI of boost from the factory so theres lots of room to mod.

Yeah, the TT will kill you. You say you have the 305 H.O, I didn't think they H.O's in 87. Not saying it isn't true, just wondering.

87 was the last year for carbs I believe, so I'd say HO's existed... Don't bother with the 300zx, it's not that much lighter than your car, but it's probably got 100 Hp more...

wrong. the 300zx is not a TT for one thing. single turbo on those. also, the Z is about 500-750 lbs lkighter, i cant remeber exactly. figure it has about 225 hp or so. i used to own a 77 so i know quite a bit abut these cars.

The car is a single turbo the Twin turbo 300zx's didn't start until a few years later If I remember correctly. But my friend had a single turbo Z and just with boost mods and a few minor things he beat a kid in my school who had a 4.6 98' GT mustang. Not bad for an import and the greatest selling sports car of all time..hehe

I say give it a shot. The older Z's arent that fast. I've seen a few at the track running in the 15's and high 14's. But if you have a LG4 he would probably take ya. Depends on the condition of your car, and the condition of his. They arent slow, but we only need to worry about the new ones.

The 300z should run like a 15.7 with an auto. I think it will be in his favor, but with some gears and a torque converter I would put my money on you.
