1989 Iroc-Z vs. 2008 Mustang GT?
I have an Iroc with the L98 58mm throttle body, 3.70's, Vortech heads, with probably a little over 350hp. Any ideas how I'd do vs. a 2088 mustang gt 5 speed?

350hp? Stock TPI? What are the cam specs? If you just slapped some Vortec heads on with the proper intake you're NOWHERE near 350hp.

Re: 1989 Iroc-Z vs. 2008 Mustang GT?
I don't know the specs of the heads all i know is that the guy before me rebuilt the whole engine and put on the Vortec's and the matching intake. But it has all of the basics like cold air, throttle body, plugs/wires and the 3.70's. im not completely sure it gets alll of the power the motor puts out to the rear wheels though we are in the process of tuning it up b/c the throttle body is making the car idle very high and causing the MAF to lean it out too far

2088 mustang GT?? Man, by that time, they'll probably have 700 HP and be powered by turbine engines. I think you'll lose.
In reality though, I owned one. Ran 13.5 @ 104 mph but mine had an intake/tune on it. A bone stock one will probably be 13.9ish and they make 300 HP. If you are making more HP than that or have run quicker at the track than that, you should win. They are nothing special, but do quite a bit better than the old junk 2 valve 4.6's.

My buddy had an 07' GT for a short while. My mods are in the sig but my camaro runs 13.5 @ 107. I walked away from this stock GT. Of course he gets rid of the car and tells everyone he was catching me and a Dodge Neon that didn't exist got in his way... sad...

They sure do! I always get people telling me I'm a dumbass and that there is no such thing as a 4.3L V8. Would you like to come over and measure my bore and stroke? haha Quite peppy little guy too! Pulls the 4k+ Caprice around just fine!
The 4.3L V8 was used from 1994-1996 in the Caprice. Engine code L99. 200hp/245 ft. lbs.

If you've ever seen an LT1 you've seen an L99. They look IDENTICAL. No external differences except casting numbers. There are a lot of ppl who try to sell L99's as LT1's to get money money... Imagine that... People lying about stuff they are selling.. Doesn't sound like this country at all. haha

Re: 1989 Iroc-Z vs. 2008 Mustang GT?
Unless there is a lot more done to that engine there is no way its making 350HP. I am just barely squeezing out 350 with my engine. (see specs) You aren't running anything more then a performance GM cam because the Vortec heads don't allow for enough valve lift that a comp cam has. I'd say it'll beat you because of its weight to power ratio to yours. Ya'll might have the same HP but he's lighter...

I don't thinks so. What do L98 Camaros wheigh? About 3500 lbs right? The 2008 Mustang GT weighed about the same. Maybe a little more. I thought they were more like 3600.

They come in at around 3600 lbs. Make around 270 or so RWHP bone stock. My intake/tune one made 284 RWHP.

If Ford was correct in saying that the Mustang produced 300fwhp, then that would meen only a 10% powertrain loss.

Guess it's a pretty efficient drivetrain then lol. I can tell you with 100% certainty that mine with only an intake and tune made 284 to the wheels, and I'm almost possitive that most stock ones make between 265 to 270 RWHP.
