I dont mind at all having a classic bow tie here. I like novas. I actually learned to drive on a 76 Nova. If memory serves me right, the later year Novas (76-81 ?) had almost identical frames and drive trains to the Camaro. I remember the owner's manual for my uncles 76 said it was for Nova/Camaro. Wish I could have put the 305 from that car in my Camaro.

I like to see all kinds of American iron on these boards. Its even been cool having some Mustang guys around here lately. What I dont like are the un-named import driving punks who come to these boards and tell us our cars suck. I think pretty much everyone else agrees with that. If you kept posting about how thirdgens suck then I wouldnt like you either. No offense polite, educated import drivers out there...I know there are a few.

It is common practice on this board to be accepting of all types of cars, as long as the person has some affiliation with thirdgens... As long as people respect the fact that this is a board for thirdgens, we get along. You will notice a few members who don't even like muscle cars that are just out to make trouble... the only reason they get flamed is because they aren't here to be useful and are just here to stir up trouble. You will notice that people like Rx7speed here and Graeme's Firebird (think he's the one with the Nova) have at one time owned a thirdgen...

Edit: Just realized what you meant... I say welcome aboard...

Nova is perfectly acceptable to me. To me, we stand a lot to learn as mainly SBC guys from all of the other niches.

There are a lot of things that are NOT commonly practiced in the build up of SBC's that we miss out on.

For example, I was watching some drag racing on ESPN2 about 2 weeks ago....In the "All Engine" (no power adders) class there was a ***** in the mid 11's. Come on now, hate it or not, that's a D A M N fast car.

There was also a volkwagen type 1 engine getting over 7 horsepower to each ci. Don't think that's impressive because they don't have many cubic inches....try well over 700 horsepower!!! Now those aren't street driven cars mind you, but there is something to be taken from each of them.

I personally prefer a 3rd gen to anything else I can afford. I can't really afford a vette, porsche or anything else like that, not one that would be worth having anyhow.

So yes, a Nova is fine. I agree with most of you, as long as you are not being a JERK or an A$$, you're welcome. I'd love to pick anybody's brain that is doing something good with their car.

Sorry guys, I didn't know some people would get offended if I posted about it. I will refrain in the future. The only reason I even put it in my signature is to show anyone on the tech boards that I know my *** from a hole in the ground, and that they don't have to waste their time spelling everything out for me. I do drive a thirdgen though, and love the new ride.
PS- I updated my sig

Jsharp was refering to his own Nova... we have all kinds of car owners posting. It is one thing that makes this board most versitile. All muscle cars are welcome and to the import guys on here, they respect our purpose and we respect their questions... well most of us at least. Feel free to ask Nova questions in the future.

Chevy II/Novas are awesome. My dad has owned many Novas over the years and right now he currently owns a frame up restored 1968 Chevy II/Nova with a 327. Real smooth looking car and pretty quick too.
'68 and up Novas shared the platform as the Camaro.

I would guess more than a few people on this board are previous or current Nova owners. I've owned a '72 SS and a '73 SS Hatchback. Like everyone above, no big deal!!!

GRUVEB-And I know of quite a few non street drivable cars with V8's running 7,000hp until I see DOHC 4's running with the top fuel boys, they ain't ****. I dont hate them, but they sure as hell aint the be all and end all.
