5.0 vs 5.0

My buddies and I were out cruising tonight, me and two girls in my car, and three people in my other friend's car. Anyways, I got a call on my cell phone from my friends in the other car, they were talking to a kid in a parking lot with a 5.0 Mustang who said he totally walked all over my car the weekend before(which he didn't, it was almost dead even from about 30-70mph). So I dropped off the girls in my car(they had to go home anyways) and drove over to the parking lot where this mustang was. It was a red mustang GT 5-speed with white racing stripes, I think he said an '82. So I start talking to this guy and apparantly he thought he totally smoked my car. I said no way and challanged him to race again for 10 bucks. He accepted and we drove to a secluded street. When we all got there, he said he wanted to go from a roll, because his clutch is going out(yeah right). So we lined 'em up and went from a roll. He started to pull on me right away, was about a car length in front of me, until my car hit second gear. I started gaining on him fast, and before I know it, I was about 1 1/2 car lengths in front. I would say the distance we raced was aprox 1/8 mile. I turned around, pulled over to where my friends were standing, and the guy pulls up gives me $10 bucks, says "good race" and takes off.
Later on, some guy in riced out Del Soul tried racing me. After I beat him, all he said was "Man, that thing scoots pretty good." I said thanks. That was my night.

i remember my first race from a roll. I got killed. guy got the move, and I didn't know what the **** I was doing. we went from 30, I was in drive, left it there, and floored it... the secondaries stuck shut, and tranny didn't downshift.. The guy went on to tell everyone how fast his SN95 5.0 was b/c it killed a cammed up 350.. My cam wasn't even big. Second time around(a week later), I rolled to 30 with him, and dropped it to 1st when I stomped it, never even saw him as I flied by, got the move, the end of 2nd gear and I was buslengths ahead of him, it was beautiful.. everything worked out great, all 4bbls suckin down air/fuel, it was great.

p.s, too bad my RS is slower than an L05 truck ;(

If it was an 82 stang it had the 4 speed manual. My friend had one for a long time. In stock form I think the motor made 140hp. It had one of the smallest 2bbl carbs I have ever seen. BUT, when he replaced the carb with a holley, got a new intake manifold, and headers, it ran like a different car. Anyway, Nice kill! It just makes it some much more fun when its a mustang (sorry ford guys, Im sure you feel the same way when you take out a F-body).
