Stock 5.0 vs Stock 5.0

I have a 1989 5.0 mustang with Ported Heads, 3.73s, Flowmaster cat-back, Mac Headers, Mac H-pipe, 2400 stall converter, and a shift kit. The car I will be running is my cousins 1984 Firebird with a 1986 Trans Am 305. It has Heddman Headers, Super Converter Cat, Flowmaster 80 series muffler, all in 3", 3.73 gears, and a K&N filter. My hopes for my car is a mid-low 14, but what should his run. I'm guessing mid-low 15, but I'm not sure. Also we are at about 800 foot elevation, and he shifts the Auto.

You're probably packing 230 or so Hp and he's probably packing about 210... your only real advantage is the stall converter and shift kit... considering the Ford autos weren't as efficient as the 700r4 I'd say it's gonna be close, but you have the advantage of a better thought out engine, so I'll give you the win just barely.

I'm guessing high 14's for the 'bird and mid 14's for you.

if u are asking who will win....you'll beat him, probably with no problems....you guys have just about the same mods...but you'll benefit from the 3.73's more than he will..have fun

I'm gonna lean more towards the Mustang in this one. Not due to bias though

Well if his Trans Am engine is a TPI, then it's probably gonna be somewhat close, but I think youll beat him.

I would say the mustang will win. I am sure the camaro is carbed and 9/10 of carb owners don't have them set up right.

The Firebird is a TPI, not carbed and this race may happen at the track. My cousin wants to know what it would run before he puts some $$ on it.

It should be a good run but unless you have a bad run, its gonna be the stang who takes it.

the mustang will most likely win.
the camaro might take off the line to about
30ft, bc the 305 makes its power low, where
the 302 has a better overall powerband

Ok so the bird has TPI, I would say your almost even on power but the 302 is better engine then 305 so I would say you will take him, but it should be close you lose the weight advantage since his is an 84 base bird ???? so weight is equal ..... damn I would say very very close going to you.
