84 IROC vs. 91 RS

Ok, I'm driving the RS 3.1 v-6, running un-modified. I raced against a Flowmastered 84 IROC 305 with a 4 barrel carb, owned by a friend of mine. I won't go into details, because it's pretty boring, considering that I TIED him. Yes, TIED A CARBURETED IROC! We pulled up to a red light.. When it turned green, we dumped it. He said he didn't all the way for fear of spinning his tires, and getting a bad launch. All the way up to 45 mph we were at eachothers' throats..no one won. I cut the race off at 45 because that was the speed limit on the street, which is pretty busy and generally infested with cops. I almost wet myself when I was done. Bitter-sweet victory though, since after the race, a problem I haven't received a help reply for on the V-6 board yet got drastically worse. Not to mention the guy is now selling the IROC for only $1200. He said it's not worth fixing. ;P. If an un-modded RS will tie it in a drag race..then yeah, I'd have to agree with him.

Wow, awesome tie, considering that IROC doesn't exist. Anyone else notice that.

When did they start making the IROC then? The car says IROC on the side..and it's a 305 carbed. The guy just told me it was an 84. Might not have a stock engine.

IROCs were made from 85-90. Decals aren't that expensive, just look at all the VTECS and Type R cars around. I really find it hard that you tied a LG4 even though it's one of the worst V8s it still has more HP and TQ than you. Is your friend's car in tune.

Ok..could be an 85. Not sure.. But it's truly a POS. His throttle cable snapped, so he used a garbage bag twist-tie as a temporary replacement. His catalytic converter blows out chunks and smokes out..gets red-hot too. I think his muffler is cracked, not sure. His tranny shifts real hard. Like I said..he's selling it for only $1200... He got it for $1000 flat.

Well gee, that's nothing I would brag about without listing all the stuff that is wrong with his car. The cat is clogged bad and is killing his performance. And his throttle cable snapped. How is a twist tie a replacement, or just kind of like duct tape holding it on.
And tell him good luck on getting more than what he payed for it, considering all that is wrong. And as far as the tranny shifting, go to the tranny board and follow transfixleo's guide to adjusting the TV cable, this should help the tranny.

Yeah, but I still expected him to pull a little harder than he did at least. He can melt the tires a hell of a lot better than me, but that restriction is killing him. And the twist tie isn't there anymore..jesus.. It was a temporary replacement. Just enough to get him home..it snapped right when he pulled into the parking lot at work..I was there that day.

Oh..wanna know the funniest part? He already has a buyer..a guy I work with who knows jack sh*t about cars. The guy asked me the other day what gas mileage is... He's paying $400 down for it, and $100 a month until the $1200 is paid off.

Hey, $1,200 isnt a bad deal for a iroc. If the body and interior are good just junk the 305 put in a 350 and put in a rebulit 700r4.
All that should cost 2,500 and then you add in the cost for the car wich comes out to 3,600 hundred for a awesome iroc. Not bad if you ask me.
Of course im saying you get a POS 350 and rebuild it.

Well, sounds good... But the interior is crap..stained carpeting, torn seats, broken plastic pieces The body is crap..scratched and dented paint, broken-off door under-frame pieces..whatever they're called. Pure junk. He dropped the price down to $1000 a few days ago to see if he can find someone else to pay him all the money at once..
