Turbo 240 SX gives me a decent run..

I was heading home tonight from work on the highway and I'm getting ready to take the exit off the highway to get onto the small two lane highway near my house. As I pull over to do this I see a car flying up on my *** with blue fog lights. So right away I'm guessing it's an import guy getting ready to try me. So I take the exit at about 55 or so and lose him on the turn. Then as we're getting onto the highway he gets next to me stomps it hard and I hear a turbo spool up. By the time I get on the gas he's got my by about 2 cars. Right away I put a car on him but I slowed down and got behind him so I wouldn't hit the car merging onto the highway. He slowed down until we had open road again and then he got on it and I got on it. I pulled around him and got about 2-3 cars then gave him the hazards and shut it down. Suprisingly enough there was no ***** fly by at 100 mph and no middle finger out the window just a thumbs up..He followed me off the highway and I pulled over into a local shopping center. He told me he was suprised how well my car ran and told me his last trip to the track he was running consistent 13's all day long. I told him that I just had a catback and K&n's..Which I'm sure he didn't believe and for good reason..hehe but overall a good race.

Great Kill Story! I think...think the 240Z turbos have the same engine as the 300's but they do not have the 4 wheel steering. When i got my 300Z, the guy tried to sell me a 240 because I wanted a 300Z with the 2+2 seats. The 2+2 300Z's do not have the turbo, I got the 300. Anyway, NICE KILL And it was cool that he was not a Jerk ***** fly by

Well let's see I've got Edelbrock TES headers,Edelbrock catback exhaust,no cat(straight pipe),TPIS level 3 chip, modified MAF,52 mm throttle body with TPIS air foil, ram air,K&N's,MSD ignition,TPIS ignition coil, comp cams xtreme energy cam, timing advanced, under drive pulleys, and a couple other things..I've ran a 13.8@104 on slicks but had some traction problems that day(probably my inexperience at the track). I've got a new 355 motor on the way in the near future which I'm going to most likely run a mini-ram on and i'll be hoping for about 450-500 HP out of the motor.

CobraKiller, Nice setup! I have a good line on AFR heads, got mine for 1300. The motor I'm putting in tomorrow: Balanced and Blueprinted 350 with 9.3/1 compresion, forged pistons, rods, and crank, custom cam @.50 210/222 on 112 lsa, lift is .505/535, AFR 190 cnc ported heads, stock intake with slp runners ported, ford svo 24lb injectors, paxton sn200 blower. I will probaly go from 8.5psi to 6psi because ofthe heads. My best on the stock engine was a 12.8. I'm hoping to get into the 11's? We'll see. Anyway what's your times IRCOTHE5.7? Remeber, if you want a set of AFR's, I'll hook you up with a good source!

My car should be good for a low 13 according to the trap speed of 104. Like I said I had some traction problems on that run. If I would have hooked up I would have hit low 13's easily.

Sweet motor!

I havent got times on my car.

I only got a catback. But the engine is in real good shape with only 64000 miles on it. I wish I had 3.73's in the back instead of 2.77's.

That's my main problem is not having better gears. I've got 3.27's which isn't bad but I'll be swapping them for 4.10's or 4.11's soon. Your car is looking nice with 64k..Mine's got 57k on it right now. I've been driving it lately since I've been repairing my daily driver but hopefully I won't put too many more miles on it before spring.

Just a little food for thought, Nissan never produced a turbo 240 so it's obviously aftermarket. My buddy had a 99 w/ an aftermarket intercooled turbo, ran 13.9's at just over 100mph. Unfortunately he totalled it but is currently rebuilding it. Anyway, good kill none the less!

I knew it wasn't stock at all. And when we were talking he told me the intercooled turbo setup was aftermarket and not stock. Either way the car ran great and the owner wasn't the typical stuck up type.

I looked at a IROC with 4:11's in the rear. And everyone told me to stay away because they said "It will run outta steam quick"

You got newer paint on your car? It has a real nice shine to it.

The previous(original) owner had it painted probably 5-6 years ago. It still has the silver IROC decals just no striping around the GFX. Since the pic I ditched the exhaust tips since I really didn't like them even though the edelbrock exhaust turn downs aren't all that pretty. And my tailight blackouts flew off on the highway during the summer and hit some kid's windshield driving a honda CRX. I figured atleast they didn't go to waste. And you're right about the TPI motor running out of steam with those gears. I would never do it to a stock motor cause the powerband is too small and it would be pretty useless. Even when I do go with the miniram setup I may still get something a little less steep 3.42's or 3.73's all depends on what I decide to do with the car.

I thought the 240's came with turbo's? When I was looking at the 300's, I really wanted the 2+2 with a turbo and 4 wheel steering. I may have been confused with the 2+2 and turbo, but i thought the 240's came with turbo's? That was in 91, over 10yrs ago..The first to go is the memory

I forgot to add that the 300's did not have the 2+2 in a turbo At the time, i was kink of hung up on the 2+2 and that is when the sales person directed me towards the 240. I thought they had a trubo model, guess not? That was ten years ago....Dang, my memory is going
