Today i was heading to farmer boys with my girlfriend and a red 85 mustang gt automatic pulled side to side with me on the light. His car sounded nice and he had a lopey idle too. I asked him if it was a 302 and he told me it was a 306 with a B 303 cam, Light turns green and we both leave HARD!!! I was at his fender until i hit third gear and he pulls a car length away. I thought 5.0s were faster than that lol! I still lost but dam my buddys stock L98 with full exhaust murdered my car worst, The 5.0 must not be all that cause my 305 hanged with my girl friend in the car! This race could have been a good race if i didnt have my girl with me.

I have to ask - what does your girlfriend weigh in at?
Just because people build motors doesn't mean they are efficient. Wrong pistons, wrong cam, wrong lifters - lots of factors. I like stock or crate motors. Stock, he should have taken you pretty easily I would think.

My girl weighs in at 155 and and His car was not stock nor is mine. I have a mid 14 second car and he must be running low 14's. His car is automatic and my ride is a 5 speed. If he had a 5 speed i know he could have beaten me worst!!! I have gone heads up with bolt on automatic 5.0's at irwindale speedway and i see a lot them run 9.5 to 10's all day! The 5 speeds are the ones to fear!!! I feel that a lot of people assume that a stock foxbody 302 is the engine that will end all other engines. My car is fast for being a tbi but i got a lot of work done to it and a l03 will not stand a chance period!!! I got a big cam LB9 from my old 89 Iroc with full boltons too.

That should be good for about a 14.5 to 15 second 1/4 depending if you really get down to a 9.3. Not bad about the same as the guy that started this thread and about the same as my v6 toyota.Originally Posted by 92firebird 305

How did you extract 200 RWHP out of a L03? I don't believe you because i have a few friends with full bolt on auto L03's and they were slow!!!! Running consistant 9.6's to10's all day at the track. 170 hp is what you got at the crank and to the wheels your possibly at at 145 to 150hp. I know because i paid money to get my stock turd dynoed and if your stock with just gears it is a slow turd as well. No dissreaspect buddy but a time slip can be lifted from the trash can or the floor any day. Post up a video on youtube of this 200 rwhp beast of a L03 and do a 0 to 60 run too. You took over my thread and chased away members who showed interest. If you want to brag about your car start your own thread bro, Thanks!!!Originally Posted by 92firebird 305

You can get decent power out of an L03, It just take a little finesse. My car is an honest mid to low 13 second car and It's a pretty mild build on a novice tune. But.... I've built the WHOLE car. not just the engine side of things. I ran a 14.1-14.2 with bolts ons. Like I said, finesse and TUNING is the key.

13.5 second TBI305? That's beyond comprehension out of a pretty mild build with bolt ons and novice tune lol? Looking at you car domain i think you full of ****. I'm just not buying it, unless you have NOS or boost your nowhere close to low 13s let alone 265HP.Originally Posted by robertfrank

Full of ****?!?!?! Number one newb you have absolutely no idea who the hell you're talking too. Number two I have been building these cars for YEARS. When I said I built the car I mean I built the ENTIRE car to make the numbers that it makes. Plus, I've gutted the car. It only weighs 2860 without my 180lb carcus in it. So before you start spouting off at the mouth some more how about you ask questions like a regular human being about WHY it runs the way it does instead of making stupid assumptions. Let me give you a breakdown of what has been done to my car.......
Gutted. Everything not ecential to engine function has been removed.
Ported ZZ4 heads and cam with 1.6 roller rockets on the intake and 1.5 on the exhaust
Ceramic coated 2055's with 3 inch Hooker Aerochamber exhaust
Ultimate TBI mods and gasket matched Performer rpm with transdapt adapter plate
Edge 3200 stall with a b&m shift kit with a Corvette servo and modified tv valve
3:42 gears with and Eaton posi and moser axles with a summit diff cover.
UMI adjustable torque ARM and bmr adjustable panhard bar and tubular lca's with UMI lcarbs. Ground control weight jack kit with 850lb springs in the front and 200lb springs in the rear. All topped off by the EBL flash with a ZT2 wb to control the afr's.
So no...I didn't just build the engine and hope for the best......

Well, since you asked politely I'll tell you. If you just count the engine side of things I have all of MAYBE a little under a grand give or take a few bucks. That includes the electric water pump and gaskets or what not. If I remember correctly I have 600 in the heads (ebay and the price of clean up and rebuild) 200 for BOTH the cam and intake (again ebay is a beautiful thing) plus all the other hardware involved in a head and cam swap.

Well good for you that you were able to find something cheap in your area.that's awesome. I myself hang with the same cars no problem out here in the desert. But....since you're still going to be a ***** and run your mouth this conversation is over. I'm not going to get the OP's thread locked because you want to be an *******. I know what my car can do, hell I've wiped up more than my fair share of LT1's its not even funny. Hell I even have a vid or 2 to prove it. Even back when I still had the stock heads cam and converter. I've been on this forum long enough to see many blowhards like yourself come and go like a passing breeze. Further more, I never said once that my car was the fastest thing here, as it stands now everything that has been done can and will be transfered to another car (my 91L98 car) and I'm building a fully forged LT1 383 to replace the 305 when I finally decide to swap it out. Trust me, I would've loved to have already built the 383 LONG before I ever thought of touching the 305. But...I did what I could with the car to have as minimal a down time as possible as it WAS my daily driven car. So everything that I've done with that car has either been done overnight or within a weekend so I could reliably drive it the next business day. So enjoy being a ***** and I'll still be here HELPING people on these boards like I have for almost a decade.. so do me and everyone else here a favor and go **** yourself. Thank you.

As I previously stated, this conversation is done. To say my stupidity is beyond comprehension is clearly a laughable statement for sure. Have fun with the others on this board who have been here as long or longer than I have with that attitude....you'll go real far with that.

The 85 automatic 302's had that CFI. They were down rated from the 5 speeds 210hp. He could have changed it who knows.
I raced a a brand new 5 speed 85 mustang with my brand new 84 trans am 5.0h.o automatic 3.73 gears and he smoked me hard. I know for a fact this 85 GT had no mods nor did mine.
I also had a 68 firebird 400 at the time and turned around and smoked his GT.
So sorry to say if all you have is a LO-3 your not going to beat a mustang GT if a 305 h.o with 3.73 couldn't.
I have had a 90 mustang GT all stock and it could give any 350 f-body a very hard run.
Thats is the fact! For what the mustang is it is bad simple as that and I can only imagine how much fun they would be with bolt-ons.

I disagree on that.
I raced about an 85 5.0 5 spd. (had the 4 square headlights) one night from a dig in my Subaru and I absolutely crushed him and I did it twice just to get my point across to him. He came up next to me and started revving to show off for the girls in his car, so I return it by letting him hear my flat 6 bounce off the limiter a few times and when the light turned green I owned him right off the line and just pulled away. Then once we slowed down I killed him again from 40 MPH roll after which I got a thumbs up and horn honk. I was in my SVX and it ran either 15.5 or 14.9 at the time, can't remember where I was on my mods when it happened.
To add to it, I owned an 87 GTA for 5 years and have had my current 91 for almost 3 and I have lost to 2 mustangs out of all the racing I've done. One of them was a young black kid in a Saleen while I had 3 other people in the car and he just barely pulled on me and gave me a big thumbs up afterwards. The second was some smartass rich kid who refused to tell me what he had done to it before we raced (look up the Ohio murder/rapist named Denny Ross, it was his brother). I had 2 people in my car and a completely full tank of gas and all he did was get me off the line by about 2 car lengths and then I hung on him the rest of the run. Both of those were 4.6's also and I was in my 87 both times.
I also got to race a brand new 2001 GT 5 spd. 3 times one day from light to light in my 87. I absolutely killed him and at the last light, he was behind me hanging out his window asking me what I had in it. I told him and he just said "damn that thing is FAST!" and we went our seperate ways.
The 87 only had a few small bolt ons and free mods on an L98 I got out of a Vette in a junkyard in Az.. Pretty sure it had a cam in it because it was just way too strong to be stock, but I never tore it apart to find out.
Point is though: I've raced my share of 5.0 and 4.6 mustangs and also rode in a quite a few including a 95 Cobra 5 spd. with 10 miles on it, and I am not impressed.

Who are you refering to just having a L03? 85 gt's with the 5 speed were fast but there ugly as sin!!! I have beaten plenty of stock fox bodies especially automatic ones with ease!!! My 89 Iroc was a 5 speed TPI G92 optioned car and it was dipping into mid 14's stock!!! Fox bodies are just as slow, and a 5.7 with headers can dipp into the 13.8 range with just headers! Fox bodies are all noise and if your in doubt buddy take your 90 Gt and see your way out of third gen.org. Maybe you should have bought a 5 speed 305 ho instead of a slow automatic, Maybe thats why he blew the doors outta of your trans am. When i get my RS fixed i will personally make a video of my car running a fox body and post you a link to show you whats up! Sit tight and hold your biased comments buddyOriginally Posted by Jeffs82TA

Sit tight and hold your biased comments buddy Okay buddy than why do you troll around 3rdgen? Were all pro f-bodys and if you like to talk crap about them get out of my thread! I really don't care for your opinion so stfu and join a corvette forum. This was my thread and your worthless comment is irrelevant to it! Just because your slow auto TA got owned doesn't mean squat to me! Fox bodies are over rated and ugly looking granny handling pinto's! Don't reply back cause i don't care for your ignorant opinion

Robertfrank. I know you have a damn awesome "ss" thirdgen because I read your car domain while helping a buddy build his lo3. You were very meticulous and exact in your build and mods. But you don't represent that in what you said in your first reply of what you have done to your car. What you said you have done to your car really didn't sound that impressive. Just refer him to your car domain. Your mods themselves are nothing special it's the way you have gotten around problems and combined your mods

True, there's a shitload of r&d in my car. I've built everything about it, not just the engine. Everything has to work in a balance. You can build a nasty a$$ engine but if you can't put the power down then it doesn't mean squat. I gave a fairly good rundown of what I've done to the car a few posts up, while not the most impressive assortment of mods they have worked fairly well in my opinion. Now I honestly believe now that if anyone wants to build a TBI based car they should honestly start with mods that can easily swap over to a larger displacement engine (350/383) but if you just want a peppy cruiser with awesome mileage then the L03 is the ticket.Originally Posted by jayhawk

As it has on MANY occasions, lol. The only Mustang to have beaten me yet was a fairly hopped up 347 Fox body t-5 with 3:73's. I blasted him out of the hole badly but he barely reeled me in at the very end by a car just before the line. It was a good race.

Agree with Robert and Jeff
I was around back when those fox bodies and Irocs were new, owned a few and drove a bunch. I know how they ran brand spanking new, not 25 yrs later is crap tune with half the cyls hitting.
Sorry but the 305 is going to get left in the weeds. It willl take an L98 to make it interesting

Sounds like a stout build to run with a stroker motor car. Any track numbers to post up? My guess would be (not site your mods) 11-12 second potential!Originally Posted by robertfrank
