Lt1 vs impala ss

My friend came by with his new car, well new to him. He has a 96 impala ss he said he has WOT issues right now so I told him whenever he was ready I'm ready. But then I said what about your other ss? He was like MY MOMS? He told me I may be able to HANG with his stock ss but his my moms stock ss(ls4) won't even be a race. I laughed and told him again whenever he is ready when we can do it.

My mods are in my sig

His car is completely stock 2007 i think. While I wait for him to get moms car lol what do you think will happen?

his car will probably be a pretty close race...

his mom's car will kill your car.. probably take it thru the curves and out brake it, too..

Aren't ls4 impalas 14 second cars? His lt1 third gen should spank it.

Atleast with LS4 Grand Prix, their around high 13s. His LT1 swap depending on how its running since its basically a stock swap from what I see, should be a close race.

If his car is a close race there is something wrong.

I think the Grand Prix are a little lighter.

Re: Lt1 vs impala ss

I hurt stock LT1 B-Bodies in my stock 91 L98 6spd Vette. The 06 up SS Imps are not that mean either mid to low 14s(14.2@101), its 303hp, 4k plus pounds, and front wheel drive w/ massive torque steer. You should kill the 96,and pull the 07 by a car.

I beg to differ killing the 96 B-Body. My buddy had a 94' 9C1 that ran a 14.5. Completely stock. Granted the LT1 in a lighter vehicle will allow it to perform better but the B-bodies are pretty strong stock. Heavy and not too fantastic of power numbers but they don't disappoint. I think as long as the swapped LT is running good it will beat the bubble impala but not "kill" it. The 07 SS will be a lot harder to beat. The only 3rd gen i have ever seen with a stock LT1 ran a 13.8. It will be a good race. To underestimate a car you have never driven or owned is foolish... Take a video of the race!!

jaybdaboat I also see in your sig you are running a 93 LT1. Are you running the speed density system or Mass air?

Ok, 13.8 vs 14.5, thats 7 tenths of a sec and that is killing the B body! 13.8 vs 14.2, thats still pulling the 07 pretty dang good. I know I'm leaving the driver out of it, but they both could be crappy driver or they both could be junior John Forces, no way to know, without knowing both and seeing them drive. You and everybody else knows you can take a 10 sec car, put a poop driver in it and it'll be lucky to run 12s.

Only way to really settles this, is to line them up!

BTW, I'm the proud owner of a 95 9C1 caprice and I bought a 96 SS new in march of 96. I sold it in 2011 with 189k miles and miss it every day.

.7 tenths is not "KILLING" a car. On the track .7 tenths is very close behind you literally. (Like a car length maybe) 13.8 vs a 14.2 might sound like a lot but you barely beat him. Think about how long it takes for .4 tenths of a second to go by... That how far behind you he is and it's not very far.. Winning is winning but i wouldn't brag about it.

We have the same motor but stock to stock is has 15 less hp and a little more torque. And I have a few boltons and his is still stock.

Plus I have a good weight advantage on the 96.

I'm not underestimating the ls4. I'm underestimating him
I know what his car can do but it's stock too. I just need to get gears then it WILL be killing both.

Re: Lt1 vs impala ss

he's got about 300hp and 320 lb of torque on what looks like almost 5000 lb car, curb weight rougly 3700

now fill in your specs and guesstimate it out

I was able to scrape by probably 1/4 of a cars length with my 99 3.8L firebird when up against a 02 Lincoln ls v8 his weight really slowed him down

Re: Lt1 vs impala ss

I've played with several 96 ss,and even with my tire spin, my LT1 T56powered 84 would distance itself quickly...I miss that car,but not all the broken gears,4th gen rear end solved that problem.
