Re: My 1988 gta vs 97 cobra

The 1997 Ford Cobra was a (281) 4.6L 4v DOHC hand assembled engine producing 300hp/305 tq with a t56 transmission and I think 3.73 rear end. So assuming your competitor is running a high mileage stock engine thats 100 cu in. smaller than yours, you should beat him; but often it can come down to the driver. Did you beef up your trannie when you went to the bigger motor? Are you running the stock 305 intake runners expecting to adequately feed air to the 383?

I've always wondered, how is ford able to squeeze out so many more horses from smaller displacement v8s then our 305s and 350s?

I'm not sure it's the only reason but power is produced with air in and air out. DOHC def breathes a lot better than pushrods.

But, ask yourself this, how many DOHC NASCARs do you see???
