Before people start flaming 87Iroc here let us remind our selves that it isn't very nice and a simple explanation suffices... so I'll explain and we'll all be happy. The L03 is specifically the base model 305 V8 for '88 and later third gen F-bodys which replaced the previous LG4 Carbed 305 V8 the change over gained the base model 5 Hp and it killed top end accelleration... due to bad heads (small cam shaft?) and TBI (throttle body injection) Fuel Injection.

As for the focus, some dipshits at Ford said, lets make even our stupedist looking car perform like a sports car and they did something wacky to make a high performance version... that may be what your wife went up against... there is also a Focus SVO I believe thats just insane... F-d up mostly.

87Iroc, If you were just having a memory lapse, feel free to disregard most of my post.

SVT makes a focus now with 170hp and it runs 0-60 in around 8 seconds. It's still ugly as sin, but it does handle the import market pretty good. But if you ask me, its still rice.

Great, now there's yet another econo-beater to annoy us on the roads.
Oh, and 87Iroc, L03=potential boat anchor.

A frined of mine has one of the SVT ford foucs and it is pretty fast! I was pretty impressed with its acceleration considering that there were 4 of us in the car.

It could have been the drivers situation. a guy who kinda knows what he is doing vs a woman who might not know much about racing no offence, but if you were in that car then it might be a different story!

I think the SVT Focus is an awesome idea! It's cool to see a domestic out there beating the import guys at their own game.

Funny this came back up near the top, I found out what went wrong and it was my fault; I was checking things out on her engine, had the injectors out to clean them and realized I have never checked the T.V. cable adjustment. Pushed it in (three notches) it only pulled back out one click. Took her with me on the testdrive and asked "When you floored it, did it do this?" as I mashed it. She looks at me, looks at the escalating tach and says "No."

...but if you were in that car then it might be a different story!
Probably; if it were either myself or her in my L69 car, it definitely would be a different story!
