First kill after camswap :)

While driving with my girlfriend down Mercury blvd (4-lane road), I pulled up to a red light, and right next to me a guy in a lowered S-10 like truck pulls up next to me. I think nothing of it for a second, but he gives me a couple of revs, sounds like a V8 under the hood. Next thing I know the light goes green, and he takes off spinning his tires a little. I ease into the throttle, and by the time I mash the throttle, he is about a car length ahead. He immediately stopped pulling on me, and I began to reel him in by the top of first. By the top of second when I let off at 70, I had passed him and left him by about 3 car lengths . I slowed down because the speed limit was 45, and I was approaching traffic ahead. I would have given him a thumbs up sign, but he stayed behind me

1/4m times

I haven't run the 1/4 yet, but it is definately in my plans to go to dinwiddie next season. I plan to get dynoed hopefully in January or february. I am still running stock heads/intake manifold for now, I feel my biggest handicap is my gearing. I am going to be saving for a 6 speed and 3.73 posi next. I have problems with traction off the line, hence the reason I had to catch up. It was a slug when I got it stock, I did get beat a lot. I can honestly say it is a lot faster these days .

P.S. Vic... I know the LT1's are faster, but take a look at your car, and then a 4th Gen Camaro or Firebird. Aside from the SS or the Ram-Air maybe, your 91 looks much better body-style wise, especially with those 91-92 gfx you have. How much are LT1 cars going for? 4 - 13 grand, easy. Go to your bank, take a loan out for 2 grand, find a nice 350, 383 engine on ebay or the online classifieds, go pick it up and drop it in. Just the other day, I saw an LT1 motor paired with a 6-speed, including clutch, clutch pedal and everything needed to swap it into an automatic car (aside from the right crossmember) for 1400 dollars. It would be more economical to swap drivetrains, and sell yours than to sell your car and get another fbody. My .02

Jet Stage II Chip removes speed limiter

I was let go early today from work (military), and decided to do a speed test with the new cam down an empty stretch of road. the car pulled much harder all the way to 120 mph in 3rd gear! I was pretty amazed by this, as when I first got my car (all stock, un-tuned), I had problems putting it over 100 mph . If only I could get it into overdrive. I have a shift kit that will do it, but it is going into my girlfriends 383 TPI Trans Am. Oh well. Can't wait for that 6-speed.

One time, I was in the car with Firecrow, we were in a mini-van and decided to take on a mitsubishi galant (older model) or a hyundai or something...well we raced it 3 times, each time we let him get ahead then Firecrow would hit the throttle and kick it to 75 on Mercury Boulevard...we laughed so hard at the car because it didn't have the horsepower to backup the driver response.

thanks for the advice, I mean it, last night I thought it over and I'm gonna run my car in the ads one time, if it doesn't sell then I'll keep it for 2 more years when my brother turns 17. I think the rear seal is out of the engine, so if it doesn't sell a 350 is on the way (a year later some n2o) I still need a 3.42 posi, but I'm working the junk yards one the gears.
