Who will win?Me(91 Camaro Z28) or a late 90s Turbo VR6 GTI
I race quite a bit on the street particularly up at the Metro. There's a guy up there with a GTI VR6 with a turbo who talks alot. I wanna run him but I wanna get an idea of how fast he might be? If you want to know I'm spraying a 100 shot. I also don't have any traction problem(nittos 20psi).

I don't know what your car is running but a VR6 with a turbo is a pretty mean set up. They aren't that common and if this guy really does have one and if it is set up correctly it would be a force to be reckoned with. Up here in Canada, there's a guy with that set up and he is running mid 12's with about 112 mph traps. The worst thing with those cars and that set up is traction. If your going to race him make sure it's at least off the line, because on a roll once those things hook up they pull like a freight train. Thanks.

Its from a stop. I just wanted to get a good idea since I've never ran one. I've beated a modded turbo eclipse, turbo MR2,modded 5.0s and many other cars. I'm quite sure I can get him real good off the line. I've checked his car out and hes running stock rims and regular radials.

If it's off the line you should have a chance. That's the disadvantage of a high horsepower front wheel drive car. I know guys with front wheel drive Talons and Eclipses that are fairly modified and some of these guys can't go wide open until third gear. They spin all the way through first and second and by the time they hook up half the time the race is over. That's the beauty of AWD. I've beaten guys that have had more horsepower but my AWD whole shot gives me such a big jump that they can't close the gap before the race is over. An import, but not a *****!! ha ha.

"If hes got the stock wheels and tires.... there is no way he has a $4000 turbo set up"
Well, maybe, maybe not. He could be going for the "sleeper look," who's to say. Or just wants the power first. Or maybe he THINKs the car has a turbo and it dosen't. Or he jus WANTS us to think he has one like ImportsR said. I'd say race him anyway then lift hoods after its over and find out for sure!

I used to work with a guy with a vr6, he had an exhaust and that was it. That thing was a turd. I think their like a low 15 stock...and with a 100 shot on a z...im going to give you the advantage......

There are VR6 turbo kits available. I've seen tests on them and I recall about 280 horsepower or thereabouts, of course that's with the usual electronics etc. that would be about 305 -310 to the crank. So it's possible he might have one. As I said before, with a turbo kit set up properly it would be quick if you could get traction. So maybe the guy's got one, or maybe he doesn't. The only way to find out is to race him. Then you will know for sure.

I'm pretty sure its a turbo and if it isn't then he needs to change his tags. But I'm not worried cause a friend of mine said he ran him with his 5.0 mustang and beat him by about a car.The 5.0 only runs mid 14s on a good day. I've ran 14.2@98 with out the n2o and not too long ago ran a 13.3@109 on the G-tech(only got a chance to run it once sure I got 12s in me=)) so I know I'll kill him.
