All kinds of action last night (very long)

Last night the Mustang club got together for a little cruise and the streets were packed! On my way out to the park and ride to meet up with a couple of the guys Amelia and I ended up getting stopped at a light next to a newer Impala SS, but behind him was a 5.0 convertible and behind me was a 300 ZX. I wasn't expecting anything out of the guy in the Impala because he was talking on his cell phone, but the guy in the 300 ZX was young and had his girlfriend in the car so I was expecting him to be the one I'd end up racing. The light turns green and I ease off in 1st to get the revs up so I could launch in the power band while the whole time I've got my eye in the rear view to see if the guy in the 300 ZX is going to bite when Amelia yells at me "you're getting beat!" I looked over and the guy in the Impala SS had about 2 1/2 cars on me! "oh ****!" I'm thinking to myself, so I gun it and eventually overtook him at about 65, but we both gave a thumbs up. I was impressed because I didn't pull as hard on him as I thought I would have. The guys in the 5.0 and 300 ZX got left behind a little, but sure enough, the 300 ZX comes flying up,

BUT guess what's coming up in the left lane now? A dark blue WS6 Firebird, so I ignore the guy in the 300 ZX, he doesn't have anything to bring to the table anyway, and look over to the Firebird. I give him a nod, he nods, and I point in front of us...there's nothing there, I'm ready to go. Drop back down into second gear and get on it and I'm slowly pulling on him. Probably had about a car to a car and a half by 80 where we both shut down.

All this was exciting enough, but I can't believe this...we run up on another LS1 Firebird. This one was silver. After we all 3 get clear of traffic, we gun it from a 35 mph roll. Still pulled on the guy in the WS6, but I had nothing for the one in the silver Firebird. He'd put around 4 cars on me by the time I got out of it at 70.

By now, I'm already considering it a good night, but it definitely wasn't over by any stretch of the imagination. After we'd met up with Ian and Brandon, we headed over to the park and ride. Not much going on there, so we decided to hit Broad Street to see what was going on. Looks like we've struck a gold mine! Not more than a mile after getting onto Broad Street a kid in a yellow 99GT ran up behind us. His car was nice. It had the anniversary model style hoodscoop on it (same as '01) and two black stripes on the hood. Ian lead everyone down some side roads where there was absolutely nobody, so we all had some fun. Raced a little, but the kid in the GT seemed to be lagging behind everyone. We motion him over to come talk, so we all parked and we found out he'd just got the car two weeks ago. So we asked him if he wanted to run down Broad to check out some more cool cars and he comes on along.

Actions not done yet...a couple miles later we came up on a kid in a fox body 5.0, so we get him to cruise on down with us. So now we come into the lot at the Rack N Sack and there's already all kinds of cars there, but mostly imports. A huge crowd assembled around Brandons car because he's got some big power steering pump that makes a really loud whistling sound

Finally, some more guys in 5.0's come through the lot. There were two 87-93 Coupes and an 82 Hatch and those guys were just itching to race. They all did the usual. Claimed to have a few basic bolt ons like offroad H pipes, exhaust, cold air intake, etc. but everyone knew what kind of game they were running. They came over, checked our cars out, but Brandon still had his hood up letting the ricers take a peak so they quickly backed down from his. Next in line was my car. They looked at, asked what I had done to it and I tried to play it off just like they had, but Ian opened his mouth about the cam and told them it was a low 13 second car (I could have killed him). So they move onto Ian's car and find out it's the slowest of the bunch and offer him a race, because they wanted to race something stock.

A little while later Jarrod and Paul finally show up. Jarrod's got an 87 GT with an Incon twin turbo kit on it that's putting over 400 hp and 500 ft lbs of torque to the wheels but it sounds bone stock so the guys start to pick on him. "Sure, I'll race you."

So all 9 of us head back down Broad Street. First race ended up being between Ian (94 GT convertible, should be running 13.9 - 14.0) and the guy in the 82 hatchback. The hung even all the way up to 60.

Next up, the guys in the grey coupe and red coupe were in the 2 lanes beside me both bucking their cars trying to get me to go, but I was trying my best to ignore them. The cops had already drove by twice and with 9 Mustangs riding down the street in a pack I knew there had to be one around somewhere. Finally we caught a light and Amelia told me to go ahead and waste them. When the light turned green I pulled my usual routine of easing off the line to get the rpm up to about 3000 in 1st before I nailed it. They both stayed beside me and when I punched it, both of them did as well. The grey coupe hung with me pretty well, but the red coupe fell behind.

So by now, all 9 of us are cruising down broad to get to the spot where Jarrod's going to race the guy in the grey coupe when 3 Camaro's catch up with us. There was a 2nd gen, an LT1, and an LS1. That LT1 was SICK! He was running on drag radials and stomped it from about 30 mph and they just went up in smoke!

Eventually Brandon (GT40 crate motor and vortech S trim putting out around 450 hp) and the guy in the LT1 got a run against eachother and neither one of them could pull on the other.

Finally, we turn off Broad and get to the spot where Jarrod is going to race this kid in the coupe. They line up and run. Jarrod hangs side by side with him for a while trying not to blow the tires out and then out of nowhere he starts leaving the kid like he was standing still. You couldn't even count the number of car lengths he had on the The reaction from this guys friend's was hilarious! They could not believe that a stock sounding Mustang was leaving their friend's car the way that he did.

While we were there, we got a chance to BS with the guys in the Camaro's. They were all pretty cool and told us that the LT1 was running low 11's.

What a night

cool stuff

I was riding down I64 in the IROC last night following a buddy in a truck when we got passed by about 8 cars, 2 C4 vettes, a riced out Talon, a civic, an Impala and a few others. I pulled up next to the second Vette (a Blue one w/white racing stripes) reved the engine next to him just for giggles and he guned it and left me behind (I wasn't planing on doing anything anyway) I just wondered where they were going. (from hampton to Norfolk or beond) That was one of the biggest groups I have ever seen around here. mostly it's 2-3 ricers running around in a pack at the most. I have yet to head to the local car spots and see the action.
maybe next weekend.
later

Wish the action was anything like that here...

I just got back from a pretty large gathering of some really obnoxious trash talking ricers. I got some friends who're into imports (I know, I'm trying to reform them ) and they went down to the local cruise spot to check out the action. Apparently some dude from Little Rock was supposed to bring his big bad turbo'ed 240Z to smoke the annoying Civics and Accords that plague our streets. TF&TF must have made an impression on these guys because even the losers are running nitrous (NOS according to them). This one dude rolled up in a really, really riced out Civic Si with as much weight added to the rear end as he had removed from the front . I asked him specifically if he had any performance mods, much to everybody else's amusement, like, "what does that have to do with racing?" As I thought he had nothing more than a CAI, exhaust, headers, and nitrous. He claimed he had nitrous but I didn't see any plumbing anywhere. I asked him what kind of times he was running and he said mid 15s before the nitrous went in and now he assumed low 14s high 13s. Of course, I wouldn't believe a word of what he said unless he showed me actual timeslips. Anyway, to make a long story short, these ******* never got around to even racing each other (probably afraid to lose face in front of the only guy who rolled up in a Camaro). One guy in a Prelude claimed beating a s/c'ed 5.0 the other night , but in typical ***** fashion he went on to add that he 'would' have beat him if he didn't miss second. f**king ****! These ****** must have stood around for an hour making excuses not to race each other. I really ought to take Adrian and his 12 second LS1 Z along next time to show these little ****s what speed really is . They think that piece of crap airtube they got added 15 more hp. Gimme a freakin' break!!

These stories are bringing back memories.

Last year, when it was nice out, we were hanging out at our local spot. Afriend of mine was itching to race (he has a 454 Chevelle that runs mid 11s) this guy in a LT1 (blown and built, runs 10s). Well that race never happened, but another friend of ours in a Roadrunner (was low 12s before this night!!!) decided it was time to try the Chevelle again.

We all cruised over to a highway, and the two cars lined up a quarter of a mile back under the overpass. We were sitting in the grass next to the entrance ramp, or finish line, when all of a sudden we heard tire spinning and saw some smoke. The two cars came flying by at well over 120 and someone yelled wholly s**t, Joe (Roadrunner) won. He finally beat Chris (Chvelle).

After they left, we tryed playing catch up. The cars we cruised with was sick bunch of cars:
White 1999 Saleen, Red 1996 Saleen, Blue 1999 Firebird Trans AM, Yellow 1995 Vette, White blown 2000 WS6 Firebird, Red Blown 1999 Mustang Vert, Maroon 1991 Mustang (my dads), Big Block Blue 1962 Falcon Vert, Black 1995 Blown 10 second Camaro (from earlier).

On our way back, we came to a light in this order

'99 Saleen '96 Saleen
***** Escort '95 Vette
'99 T/A '91 Stang
'00 WS6 ' 99 Stang Vert.

Well the light went green and we half throttled it to screw with the Escort, him thinking he kept up with these cars. Well the next light, it was another story.

The two Saleens took off nearly sideways, the Vette nailed an awesome launch and took off after the Saleens. My dad hit a great launch and walked on the Escort and the T/A stuck behind the Escort, with the T/A quickly jumping in behind us. And the two blown cars behind, and when they got pat the kid in the Escort, walked us the T/A and then us, until we hit the Nitous in the beginning of 3rd. We kept with the Blown T/A and walked up hard on the Vette.

After a few more stop light brawls between the cars in our pack we went to our hangout and stayed there BSing till 2 in the morning.
