Specs on Ford Probe???

No I don't own one and never will. They are ok cars but this kid at my school is always talking about his car and how it is just a regular stock probe with a probe GT engine. What are the specs on this engine? Is it a 4 or 6 cylinder? Its an auto and says hes generating about 150 or so HP what do you guys think. When he loses a race he always has an excuse. I put buslengths on him with my LO3 92 RS. I know but i am going to get a 383 stroker when i get into the military. But anywayz thanks

My dad had a 91 Probe LX with the V6 before an 8 wheeler decided to run over it and I've got to say that was the nicest riding car I've ever driven. It wasn't very fast, ran high 10's - low 11's in the 1/8th, but the handling was great, and the ride was very smooth.

I actually drove it so ya it is a nice smooth ride if you ask me but I never gunned it because the kid let me borrow it on my break from work cuz mine was getting fixed. We both have the interior neons going but mines getting fixed. So we pretty much stick together when we roll out.

Yes, the Probe and the Mazda MX6 are the same thing. The drivetrain, however, was produced by Ford.

I'm taking a stab in the dark here, but maybe Geo. Seems like they were Japanese. I'm probably wrong though.

The Probe is a slow turd. I had a friend who used to own one, but then he got a firebird. Another guy tried to race me with a probe one night . I toyed with him pretty badly. I kept letting off the gas so he could catch up, then I'd just leave him again.

Sorry Nic but the drivetrain is all Mazda.

What year is the Probe?

1st gen were 2.2L 4 12valve- probably 120hp but 145hp with turbo (underated)

2nd gen V6 cars are 2.5L 24V DOHC V6 164hp- I can't remeber t the base engine was but it's a 4cly.

GM teams up with Toyota all the time. The Prizm is the same car as the Toyota Corrolla. The new Pontiac crossover is a Toyota to.

So I was right. Prizm was a Geo. Does Geo still exist? I have noticed some of their cars are now Chevy, like the tracker.

geo was GM's way of trying to get import buyers to buy a GM car. Basically geos were rebadged toyotas or suzukis, once GM figured out noone was fooled the remaining Geos all became chevys.

Behold badge engineering:

GEO prizm -> Toyota corolla

Geo storm -> ? (i think this was cancelled before changing to chevy)

Geo Tracker -> Suzuki Sidekick(now grand vitara)

Geo metro -> Suzuki swift

My knowledge of Ford probes as experienced by me...

GT's came with turbo 4's (earlier ones) and V6's in later models.

They have FWD

Thier performance is nothing more than the average 16-17 sec 1/4

They are Fugly, Pugly or Oogly... whichever you prefer.

They outnumber Camaros in my local U-Pullit yard...

In suming it up, they fall apart easily and they are horribly underpowered.

One other thing to throw in... GM owns Subaru.
