98 5spd Z24 vs 85 5spd LG4....??

Hy guys,

Oe of my friends might be getting a 98 Z24 with a 5 speed (his dads buying it for him ) Anyways, I doubt he can drive a stick. Do I have a chance with him? My car's an 85 Z28, LG4 5 speed, basically stock. What do you guys think??

Thanks for any info!

Unless you run better than a 15.9 he might take you

Hey

I have a 1985 IROC Z Camaro with a 305 TPI. I can smoke cavaliers, so u should be able to beat him. The engine u are running with a 5 speed runs 15.4 stock I think u will win

One question, How can that car run a 15.4 stock???
A 1985 TPI 305 auto usually runs 15.5 bone stock, by magazines and tests anyway.

The older Z might fall victim to the Cavalier stop light to stop light.

Hey

I 1985 IROC Z Camaro with a 305 TPI, and 3.42 gears will run 14.94 in t he 1/4 mile. If u dont believe me there is an artical in a magazine published that proves it... The IROC Z Camaro in that artical is the exact same car as mine... Everything is that same. That 305 TPI with 3.42 gears in the artical can run 14.94, 1985 TPIs were the fastest ones with auto.

It should be close...you may edge him out though...it's hard to tell. The quickest I have run is a 15.7 but I know some stock Z24's have run as low as 15.2...so I don't know...he may have a factory freak, but if he can't drive a stick then you should be ok.

Later,
Eric

P.S. Don't think by saying that you should be able to beat him that I don't like my car or Z24's I just have respect for faster cars.
