how fast are the 3000GT vr4??

a buddy of mine just put a 9psi paxton on his stang...right now he cant even beat me because he cant keep it straight or from spinning...he is putting some slicks on there...(the street legal ones) my question is there is a guy around here with a stock 3000gt with a twin turbo....how much power do these things have? and will a mustang with approx 350hp be able to take one? its a 91 fox body GT if that makes a difference

3000GT VR4's are solid 13 second cars and I've seen many of them in stock form keep up with stock LS1 cars usually losing by very little. What are the specs on his stang besides the S/C? Is it an auto or 5 speed? And if he is having trouble getting traction that badly it will play a big factor seeing the VR4 is AWD and it's chances of breaking traction in stock form are slim to none with a good driver. Need some more info on the stang..

The 3000Gt is toast. Those cars are mid 13s stock, and the Mustang better be quicker than that. I would say the Stang is good for 12.6s with the slicks. Does he have gears in the stang, because if he did the 3000Gt would never stand a chance stock.

Buddy of mine has a 3kgt and ill tell ya what those things are nuts. he just dropps the clutch a 3000 rpms with the all wheel drive and tears people up. he doesn't have alot of mods but still he is in the 12's already after the few mods he has. make sure he hasnt played with the turbos and just get the stang to hook up and you have a chance.

VR4's and R/T Stealths run about a 14.0 stock, and can get real fast real quick with carefully chosen mods. Off the line, they're very hard to beat, but eventually the AWD starts to hurt. Bottom line: the stang has to power to take him, but in a 1/4 mile race, does he have the traction? Cause if not, he's in trouble. He still might catch up if theres enough road/track left once he can get the power all to the ground.

Your friend stands a better chance through the 1/4 than he does stoplight to stoplight or through the 1/8th. I ran a VR4 a few months ago before the C4 and barely beat him to ~80 but was starting to pull harder and harder the faster we were going. My car was running solid low 13's at the time. With what your friends got, he ought to be somewhere in the 12's. I'd expect him to trap around 110 - 115 after he gets all the tuning issues out of the way.

Theres a really cool black one in town, he put a new exhaust on it two weeks ago sounds cool.

He has slips for 13.6 and his only mod then was a K&N.

There launch is there best weapon.

"Your friend stands a better chance through the 1/4 than he does stoplight to stoplight or through the 1/8th."

Exactly my point. The VR4 can launch, but the Mustang will outpower it in the end given enough road/track. Plus AWD mechanical drag will be soaking up more and more power the faster the 3KGT is going.

A freind of mine raced one a couple times at the track, and it kept beating him (he hada mustang) by a couple tenths. They were both quick off the line, but its still hard to launch like an AWD. If I remember, it looked like he would have caught him with just a little more track. But this was like 1 1/2 years ago so I may just be remembering what I want to remember
