C5 Vette tried to give me a run then chickened out

On my way home tonight I was riding down Ironbridge Rd. when I came up beside a white C5 Corvette with a guy maybe in his early to mid 30's driving it. As I pulled up beside him, he looked over so I say to myself "what the heck" and drop down to 2nd gear not really expecting him to gun it too, but we both punched it at almost the exact same time. It took a whole 4 seconds of me pulling HARD on him before he saw he was obviously overmatched and let out of it. Have to give him credit, at the next stoplight he looked over and gave me a nod.

Of course I could be, or of course I could not be. That's up to you to decide.

I believe Nic. Why would he lie? His car speaks for itself. Most c5 owners are old and can't drive anyways. I saw one stock for stock get smoked by a newer camaro SS just cause the guy had no idea how to drive that 6 speed.

Mmm...let's just say there aren't many things left on it that are stock besides the stock 4 cyl. rear end with open diff. and 3.45's. It should be running in the low 12's after I get the rearend swapped out for an 8.8" with 4.10's in the back and get the converter matched properly. It doesn't come out the hole very hard at all right now. It's got the power to 60' in the 1.7x range but with the mismatched gears/converter it's only 60 footing in the 2.0's with no tirespin. There's also probably at least 20 horsepower at the wheels left in it once I can get in and tune the fuel curve to get the A/F ratio around 13.5 instead of being all over the place like it is now.

I have right around $7,000 - $7,500 invested including cost of purchasing the car.

Nice kill Nic, your 12.7 would beat most stock C5s so I believe you, now if I said my car beat a C5 I would expect NO ONE to believe me.

good kill, i totally believe you. C5s are excellent cars though. not able to beat a 12.75 unless it's a Z06 though.
