WOT=flat on my face....
i was driving my camaro tonight and i speeded by about a 2000 GT that was pulling out of a store. I dont have any pipe after my cat so its kinda loud and he got the impression i wanted some. He got right on my @ss and im running 50 in 4th gear and finally i punched it and got that great sound (like when a carbs 4barrels kick in...ya know that deep VOOOOOOO sound?) That damn mustang at me for lunch, passed me like i was nothin. I know the lo3 aint the fastest but with a 3.08 rear and 5speed he should have never killed me that quick, like i was a stock honda or something. Granted my t5's pressure plate is warped and the clutch aint all that great and i dont have a reverse...but that shouldnt have anything to do with it cause i was in 4th and stayed there. When i punched it it the motor sounded like it was gonna unleash #ell on this stang but it just dont pick up strong at all like before. What could be my problem?? It runs fine otherwise just dont have that power like the motor sounds like its givin. Im lost and with a tag that says V8powr i gotta atleast have something at wot!! Could it be my tps?? or is it just my faliling t5 holding me back?? Thanks in advance....

At 50 you should of down shifted to 2nd or 3rd, I dont remember ever having any power in 4th. But get you flexplate fixed to
like 91RS5spd said, you shoulda atleast gone to 3rd at the bare minimum, probably even 2nd. I remember just after I put the LT1 in I was cruising through town at about 55 in 4th, and I see a red C4 vette pull up beside me, so we both just kinda looked at each other and punched it. well, in all the excitement of thinking Im going to smoke a vette, I didnt even think about down shifting, just left it in 4th. needless to say he easily pulled on me, but as soon as I hit about 3 grand his pull stopped. it still pisses me off to this day, because I know I would have beat him going to even 3rd. so from now on, I always atleast downshift a gear, sometimes 2 gears depending on the situation. and yes, thats even with the stock T-5 with over 150K miles.
well i went out today and gave my car WOT in 2nd 3rd and 4th and it dosent pull right still. Its like its sucking in alot of air but not getting enough gas. Checked all the vacum lines and everythings hooked up good. Theres a slight smell of gas in my oil....possible leaky injector?? Can you eyeball em and tell if there leaking or not or is that someting that has to be tested??

see....thats what i read to. really big dissusion on that. Thats the reason i took off my exhaust...besides the fact it had a big hole in it anyways. Maybe its the timing, or the knock sensor. Im gonna check into it later this week.
Talk about the longest, but best, exhaust debate I've ever seen. Lots of good info was passed though, i think everyone should read that thread.
BTW I'm not suprised you lost so bad. I'm not baggin on you or you car, I've got the same motor, but the GT had about 90 HP more than ours did stock. Thats a pretty significant difference.
3rd gear would have been good too. 4th @ 50 was probably about 15-1700 Rpms i'm guessing, I dunno where the t5 is very well at a given MPH since I don't have one and I'm too lazy to use the equations for this. But thats low enough RPMS to be out of your powerband for a race bigtime.

OH hey my motor is very flaky when it comes to having top en HP. Whats your motor temp when you were making the runs and where were you shifting? Because if it wasn't warm enough to be in open loop, that could be part of it. Mine never has any top end till it gets to a good 160 degrees, and most of the winter it never even gets that warm. But today it got up close to 70 here, and its been running awsome and pulling hard (well for this motor anyway) all the way to the redline. Temp has been about 200 most of the time i was driving.
well i just the other day got the airdelflector cause this is my first camaro and didnt event know it needed one till i started cruising this board. That dropped my temp about 20 deg. I can riun my a/c now without it overheating!!!! WHOHOOO. The guy when he sold me the car said it would run hot ifya left the a/c on but he didnt no why. (least he was honest!!) My T5 is on its last leg....due to a good year of driving the hell outta it. Ive learned my lesson that a consistantly heavy foot cost alot of money. I couldnt drop it to 3rd cause my syncronizers are bad in 3rd and 4th and by the time i found the right RPM to suicide shift it down that stang woulda still be gone. i guess since im gonna stay original motor wise im just gonna rebuild, stroke, and supercharge the damn thing. I aint got nothin but time. oh yeah....my temp stays around 195 now.
