New Suspension Coming!!

Well, I broke down and ordered some parts. Eibach Prokit springs, KYB struts and shocks, BMR LCA's and BMR Relocation Brackets. There goes $900.

Hope to look and feel better with these as well as hook up better too.

Bob

The guys convinced me into a set of Sportlines, so I'll be getting those soon, and might as well get shocks and struts, but I am going cheap, and going with Monroes. And I guess an adjustable panhard rod would be neccessary as well

Pardon my ignorance, but what are LCA's and BMR relocation brackets? Also when you talk about panhard bars, is that the "crisscrossed" bracket attached to the rear end?
When I drive my car over a bump turning a corner or on a ramp, it feels like the car wants to hop sideways. Just a little, it never does and I have cruised up tight ramps at about 70Kph. Is there a simple answer to that problem? I am just curious about my suspension and whether or not I should upgrade it as well. I am not pushing any sort of serious horse power(yet )

Bob: You getting stiffer bushings as well? Sounds like a good package though.

Nathan: KYB's are about the same price as Monroe's and they will handled a lowered ride better. Monroe's are only made for stock height and won't last long with a 2" Sportline drop. And yup, the adjustable panhard is a must.

Kev-- LCA is short for Lower Control Arms, replaces the stock stamped ones which are weak.
Relocation brackets are a bracket to bolt the LCA to, a good idea to use especially when lowering a car.
BMR is the company that makes them.

Irocker--The only bushings being replaced will be the ones that come with the LCA's (poly). There are only so many parts that can be explained to the wife as "necessary" replacements

I thought sportlines only drop an inch in the front and 3/4" in the rear? hmmm... although KYB's are tighter. I thought they were more for some reason. I'll have to check it out

No, the Sportlines are about 1.8" drop-- the prokit is a 1" drop.
You should look into the KYB's. They cost me $156 US for the front and rears.

Prokits are better handling springs...that would be your best bet.

Bob: I hear ya...I don't have to answer to that call yet, but I know where you're coming from. Even with all the rest of the bushing being OEM rubber, I'm sure you're gonna notice a huge difference anyway!

NO DON'T DO IT

Yes to everything but the Monroes -- DON'T DO IT ! I have had the worst experience with Monroes and f-bodies. Burned out a set of new struts (heavy duty at that) in less than six months on my '85. Did the same on our van and every time in between when I decided to go cheap with Monroes rather than spend what needed to be spent. It ain't cheap getting the struts re & re'd twice, first time for the Monroes, 2nd time for the KYBs.

Spend the $$$ get the KYBs. I used KYBs on my '88 and loved them. I am in the process of upgrading to KYB on my '91 (rears so far). I wouldn't even consider Monroes for my Formula.

ranting,
RP.

Well, I got the springs and shocks last week-- I'm just waiting on the LCA's and brackets. Can't wait to get everything installed.
