has anyone done the LCA and Panhard thing ?

I am looking for some info on LCAs and Panhard bars for upgrade of rear susp.

I am getting tired of the back end flying loose under WOT on me JUST WHEN I NEED IT TO BE HANGING ON and not send me sideways towards the nearest curb thank-you very much...

Do these parts help ? LCA ? Panhard bar ? I have the WS6 setup + KYBs and decent rubber. Suggestions ?

thx in advance,
RP.

Definitely the LCA's to keep you planted when on the gas. The panhard mostly in the corners. Bottom line, they work VERY well together. I've got Spohn's.

Or the cheaper method is to lay off the gas pedal a bit!

I don't see how these items keep your car from breaking traction aroud corners.... it will tighten up the rear end a lot. I am still learning about the suspension set up on these cars. But my opinion is that these will not eliminate the sideways action, that is caused by the posi-trac

And if they do eliminate the sideways action, I'm NOT getting them, cause thats my favorite thing to do.. hence the recent $530 purchase of new back tires

I have the Lakewood LCA's and trackbar. I think the main advantage to getting them is that they get rid of wheel hop and eliminate the slop that GM "engineered" into thirdgens. I can verify that they do nothing to cure power oversteer. But then that would suck, now wouldn't it. Adjustable track bars can also be used to fix off center rear axles as well. I think the best bang for the buck traction aid is LCA re-location brackets. I've heard of people knocking 2-3 10ths off their 60 ft times with those. If you want composure during "acceleration tests", buy a 'vette Or spend $1000 on a torque arm.

I was thinking the exact same thing when I read this, but I kept my mouth shut. But I agree, I'm not sure if the LCA's and panhard will solve the described problem above. They are good mods to do though.

My Spohn LCA's alone TOTALLY eliminated my wheel hop which was pretty bad.

Pretty impressive inventory you have there. Mind of I ask how much $$$ for the panhard and LCAs ?

The reason I brought the subject up (panhard, etc) was because I accelerated on the outside to the inside of a sweeping right hand turn (passing misc slow pokes) and my rear started to come left on me as I cut in. Shook me up, surprised me. I've got about 225,000kms in 3 f-bodies from 1985 to present. Never had this happen before in fact my '91 is the best handling of the lot or so I thought. Never want it to happen again -- almost wrecked myself and others.

So I am going to put some $$$ into tightening up the back end. Started looking at more serious rubber as well, maybe some GS-Cs or F1s. Big $$$ stuff unfortunately you have to pay for traction eh ?
