I believe you can also order them through Agostino Racing in Pickering and High Tech Racing in Woodbridge(?).

Cruz: To each their own I guess. I have full intention of getting the SLP headers as well as they are one of the best headers you can get for our cars. Certainly not the cheapest, but I'm willing to sell my other kidney when it grows back from having to pay off the paint job!

All I know is when I enquired about them when I had the TPI they were almost a grand by the time I got them. Thats ridiculous, they're just headers. They're are lots of other companies that make large tube headers that fit as well. I could see if there was this special cutting edge technology, but headers have been the same for 50 years.

Yes, its the ceramic coating you are paying for, and they are stainless. Alot of the cheapies are plain steel with paint, which rust after like 5 years, and gawd they heat up the engine bay up like a son of a biatch.

I was looking for cheaper headers... and there is nothing out there with the stainless tubing and ceramic coating.

Now... back to original post... There is a place in smithville that deals with SLP... I can get the number for you if you want.
Or if BILLZ88350 comes on anytime this DECADE maybe he can give it to you. He got his SLP airbox from them.

Name another company that besides hooker(big bux also) that makes a 1 3/4" primary headers for a thirdgen..I dont consider 1 5/8" promary headers "big"..

Daz and Nathan brought up good points too that I forgot to mention about the SLP headers...Try find 1-3/4 in stainless by any other company. Like I said, to each their own, if you are happy with something like Edelbrock TES then go for it...I'd rather save the extra couple bucks up.

What the hell do you need 1 3/4 headers for. you guys are just running very close to stock TPI units. As for ceramic coating, a place in Ottawa will coat any set for around 150-300. Considering when I was inquiring about custom headers when I did my swap, they would run me around 300 with materials and I could have had 2" primaries, but I thought that was a bit of an over kill.

I agree that I don't NEED 1-3/4" right now...but I figure it won't hurt since I plan on doing extensive mods down the road. 2" would certainly be overkill for a basically stock TPI!

Yeah.. might as well go 1-3/4" Headers... not like it'll hurt. So, 150 - 300bux to ceramic coat steel. Will ceramic coated steel be protected from rust?

I still say its worth to get the SLP headers, since the y-pipe is also made of stainless steel, and it comes withthe headers. Some companies don't include the y-pipe, so then you have to get a custom one made.... there's a nice chunk of cash right there.

will they fit with a/c ?

Will large primaries fit a car with A/C ? I can't even get my hand down there to change a plug how in the world would you fit mammoth 1 3/4 inch primaries into that shoebox ?

Also, if you drive the car May-October do you really need coating ? Mine is always parked in a garage so I figured I get some cheapo 1 5/8 jobs ? As for heat my engine bay is already bad I can't see un-coated headers making it a whole lot worse (or coated headers making it a whole lot better) ???

Have any of you seen the 4 inch cat back system for f-bodies advertised in Hi Performance Chevy, GM Hi-Tech and other car mags ? I've been wondering if any gain by keeping the stock manifolds (bad) and switching out the dual cats for hi-flows and a 4 inch cat back (good). Oughta be loud if nothing else eh ?

RP.

4 inch catback is too large from what I've heard...it's just plain overkill for a stock to mild engine.

The heat stress on the metal promotes rust..IMO if you dont need 1 3/4" I would just stay with cheap 1 5/8"(like Heddmans) dont bother coating since you can just replace them when rust inally destroys it..IMO..FYI my cheap Heddmans 1 5/8" and y-pipe has been around 4 yrs without any holes from rust..

Ive heard the 4"Mufflex with an RT muffler on a 383 and a custom 4" and a Dynomax bullet muffler(Karsten) and its not that loud..The sound is low pitch, the opposite of lowmasters..until you get on it hard..

Thx for the info glad to see somebody out there successfully installed low-buck headers and did ok by them !

I took a trip to www.mufflex-performance.com and did a tour it's an interesting website. I don't see myself doing the header thing this year but can see dumping some $$$ into new cats and cat-back stuff.
