Why checking wires is a good thing...

I figured what the hell, do the tune up this weekend before the drive in.. all will be well... well I was passing by ct and these Borg Warner ignition wires caught my eye 8 mm engine nascar gray wires... just loved the look and from what was on the box, much more promising sounding than the accel wires and cheaper than some MSD wires. I didn't find a cap and rotor I liked so I got the wires and passed by the local parts store to inquire.. lo and behold he had the ignition cap and rotor to go with the wires! So I got the set and couldn't wait till Saturday to start, so I got plugs and away I went... engine was at around 40 C so I said I'm a man pain is nothing... I think I got 1st degree burns all over my hands though hehe...

Anyways there's a point to the title and its this... I tugged VERY VERY lightly on wire #5 and out came the wire... yes the wire.. not the rubber plug housing but the wire... its no wonder I had that damn random stall event. Wire 5 was always a pain, but after carefully examining it, I've found that was my pain in the *** wire and the plug matched, had some black deposit on it from low energy firing... The rest were good though, almost a shame to get rid of them.

So I fire it up after many cuts, burns and bruises and voila feels a lot stronger...

Before

A/C on max, rad fan on, lights on, radio on, in gear and braking, major drain on system = <500 RPM idle

Now

Same stuff on = 600 RPM idle. Major difference now with new cap, rotor, plugs, wires.. all I need is a coil and the tuneup is complete.

you mite want to rethink that 350. when i was looking at your car at KK your E sticker said 305. unless you had the engine swaped. or a new hood. its on the underside of it. its tells you all the emitions crap as well as timing. and a few other things like displacement. the other thing is, you could not get a 350 5speed. so if you do someone some time change something out.
