For the track Saturday...

So here's the lowdown...

Which rims do you think will pull a better 1/4 mile for Saturday?

Both are equipped with BF Goodrich Treads...

I have my 16x8 IROC-Z Rims w/ Geforce KDWS 245/50/ZR16
I have my 15x7 American Racing Rims w/ Control T/A 215/65/R15

The 15's have 2 advantages:

They are significantly lighter than my 16x8 aluminum rims (trust me on this from taking off my rims tires a lot...)

Due to overall diameter (26 inches) and subsequent circumference, they get 23.87 MPH per 1000 RPM.

The 16's have their own advantages:

Wider tread and the quality of the tread, the 245 vs 215 gives the 16's a very high traction/power per RPM advantage over the 15's.
Virtually no wheel spin with these tires...

Disadvantages...

15's will spin... less surface contact area...
16's are heavier...
16's only get 23.1 MPH per 1000 RPM (Stock 25.5 inch diameter)
16's add more drag (front tires)

Here's my options

15's on front, 16's on back
16's all around
16's on front, 15's on back

can't do all 15's since the other 2 are winter tires...

I'm going to say 15's up front and 16's out back. Crank the air pressue on the 15s up pretty high. Although it would be funny to see a rice job with the 16s up front and 15s out back

i think that you will have better times with the 15s on the back and see no change with whats on the front.

if you want to confirm this will be more than happy to make some runs with then on too

Definately the 16's on the back. As for the front, I don't think it will really matter, as long as you pump up the pressure and lower the pressure for the rear. The weight does matter, but I don't think it's really that much of a factor here.

Kind of a catch 22.
The 15's would probably give you better times, but without traction, could loose it in the end.
I'd say, stick with your 16's and put the 15's up front.
