Almost decided to sell the IROC yesterday...

...as it's been pi$$ing me off lately...until I was reminded what I like most about it! Call it an ego trip, I don't like to brag much but...I had the car at a dealership in Burlington yesterday to run a test on the alternator to confirm whether or not it was dead. Anyway, I pull into the parking lot and notice there's 5 saleman standing there staring at me...I figured maybe it was just the sound of the exhaust as that's something most stock cars rolling off the don't sound like. So I hand over my keys and the mechanic pulls the car into the bay...well, it was like the whole service department had never seen a IROC before! Six or seven mechanics come sauntering over and all just kinda stand there point, one guy inspecting the flames, some looking under the hood. It was kinda funny to look at from behind the glass like a candid camera thing. It was like a ice cream truck pulling up to a crowd of kids and annoucing free ice cream!

Well now that swelling of my fat head has started to go down now...back to real world.

My car got jealous of me giving you help on starting issues... so it decided that it'll have its own and refused to start once I got it home yesterday.

I have the starter out and confirmed its gone to the big scrapyard in the sky.

You have such a great car... I'd keep it...

If I could kick myself in the **** then I would be considered a circus act!

Fortunately it won't be going anywhere. The money pit stays for now!

Slade: Dude...that sucks!

Glad you came out of the momentary lapse of sanity, unscathed. There is no greater feeling of accomplishment when people stop what they're doing, so as to watch you drive by or come over to look. I was at my wifes Chiropractor today, and when he asked me what my plans were for the weekend, I told him about dyno day. He was ready to go out to the car to see it, since he has always loved T/A's and almost bought an old one this spring. I laughed to myself out the door, my wife doesn't understand us and our cars. So when I told her, she shook her head and muttered " I gotta get another Chiropractor"

You would be CRAZY to sell that car. I have never heard it run or anything like that but it certainly is a looker!

But if you do get hit on the head again and get the itch to sell it again, let me know because I would definatly be interested

I don't ever want to sell it, but I'm sure if I did I would have no trouble getting rid of it. It's amazing what a little paint will do.

chris... the difference with starting now is like night and day...

basically it starts cold like it used to when hot... instantly!

I went about my long starting problem the wrong way, I thought I was in need of a tune up new plugs, wires, coil, cap rotor... didn't change starting, sure beefed up the low end torque...

Yep, selling my beast has crossed my mind many times. Its pretty bad when you're on a first name basis with your local GM parts guy(He's a real nice guy though).I may sell it in the near future, as I add up the things I want to do to the car it gets cheaper just to buy a fourth gen.I don't like the styling as much but the performance and structural rigidity of the fourth gen converts is way better. I'm torn.......

all the time

I want to sell my Formula all the time. In fact everytime I see a FWD Toyota or Honda -- better yet an Acura YAH thats it !!! Sure.

Part of the love/hate thing we have for our 3rd gens. You'll get over it on the next empty, open country road you find with your favourite tunes playing... lean on the gas abit and enjoy the rush...

Naw, I've sold my last 3rd gen I'll be hanging onto this one for awhile.

adious,
RP.

Did you replace the alternator and battery yet Chris? I picked up my alternator at the dealership and it runs pretty strong. I don't know what battery you have, I think you mentioned you got a new one under warranty... my opinion on batteries is AC Delco all the way, never had a problem with one, unless it was 5 years or older.

This car has had 3 batteries in its lifetime....

6 years on a AC Delco, 7 years on a motormaster eliminator
and this year a interstate battery (it was the only thing performance improvements sold and my battery quit on me in their parking lot lol)
