water pump
hey guys,
i think my water pump is on its way out..which is about time i figure the motor has 130,000 kms on it(90,000 miles) so i was looking at the previous posts and didnt really get my question answered..
my question is this..
over the winter i will be doing appearance upgrades to my motor so i figure this would be a good time to get a polished water pump since mine is on the way out..
is there much of a difference in companies that supply polished pumps or are they all about the same price..also better made pumps then others as well..
thanks for your time and answers

Not sure about the polished ones but you should look into electric ones if you want a really nice look IMO. You can get a nice polished electric moroso one for not to bad either. I think they range from 200-300 bucks USD just check summit or jegs. They are supposed to free up some power as well.
Just make sure if you do get a polished one, it has a very good grip area/lip on it to handle the pressure made by high temperatures. Two of us learned the hard way from Kev's choice in Mr. Gasket thermostat housing. The smooth polished chrome and rather small lip basically let the hose slip off under pressure causing a nice big splash in coolant at 5k rpm... we got pics and video too!
A stage 2 type pump should allow for more flow per rpm and allow you to use an underpulley without much worry for coolant temps.

ok , well, id suggest a weiand action plus water pump the aluminium version...awesome pumps and not expensive,if your going electric id go for a weiand electric pump.they are only $155US and there good pumps also..
and if you want a budget pump go for a milodon, they are only like 70 bucks USD

You have to get a reverse rotation pump for the serpentine setup. Edelbrock and Stewert make aluminum pumps that can be polished or that come polished. An electrice pump for a car that is used for cruising would be bad.

Acceld I think I still got some of that alc from the spencerville fair beer tent last night hahaha... The damn place was drowning in a hick to normal person ratio of 15:1! Left kind of early, can only take so much country.
cruzin man I mean polish them! Because they are the ones in the bay and all. And if your polishing immigrants, well lets just say we dont need another easyspeed (reffer to the speedy oil change post)... And I can see why you were making fun of that ambush or whatever crap. I now know why 99% of country music faithfuls are depressed drunks not happy drunks.
To much of that and boom I become a suicidal drunk...
