Question about LG4's...
Buddy of mine picked up an 84 Z28.
What i want to know is what side the oil dipstick is on the LG4.
I assume he has an LG4 in the Z, but his dipstick is on the driverside, which would be unusual for a 305.
Any answers?

drivers side dipstick is means the block is a pre 1980 block, before that all small blocks had dipstick on the driversdie, after that they were all on passenger side. for example the 84 LG4 i pulled from mmy TA had the dipstick on the passnger side. the 1970 350 block in my car now has it on the drivers side. so that not the original block.

I've seen a late 70's caprice with a 305 and it was on the passenger side too. I'm gonna have to check the block code for him and find out what it is. It's got some snot for a beater.

No. It's an 84 and i think he's gonna wait till next year or 2004 until he safeties it and e-tests it. i don't know. maybe next year.
The back fenders are rough though. there will be some major patching going on.
