There is a place in the GTA that was featured on an eps of Dream Car Garage. If they use this place it must be good. Anyhow you can contact the people at Dreamcar Garage and ask them who they might reccomend in the GTA or elsewhere in Canada. Their E mail address is website@dreamcargarage.com

I saw that episode on Dream Car Garage as well...those guys seemed to know their stuff. Hopefully you can find out the name of the shop. I think they were in Oakville?!? Not 100% sure though.

black chrome isn't chrome........it's a whole seperate coating much like zinc, copper, etc.

thanks to those who gave me suggestions, i've been in contact with the shop that was featured on that show. unfortuneately they ask absorbent rates just because of the coverage? so i'm looking for other ideas rather then having to send parts to california.

black chrome can be just as expensive depending on where you go.......what i've found works best for people looking into that sort of thing is to highly polish all parts yourself to get as close to chrome as possible and then find a good powdercoat shop that can do translucent colors. high polished with a fine black clear coat looks sweet and is fairly inexpensive.

when it comes to rims i know that about 75 a rim minus all the elbow work for polishing will get you some "black chrome" wheels that look sharp!

yeah ROCHEAD, i remember.......how's it going; i really appreciate you taking the time to head out there that day. mikes car has been in storage for quite a while after a number of problems......

what type of parts are you looking for?

This would be a good thing to know..

If there is a place in the GTA, it would be good to know. There is not a single paint anywhere that will come close to chrome.

Here's a question for us all.. if the paint comes out silver, then why the hell do the caps look like they were dipped in chrome?

Sell us whatever you painted the cap in!

Heh Heh, sorry about Kandied91z, I kinda rush that last post...
I mean when you go to buy a can of spray paint and the colour on the cap looks and shines like chrome, yet when you spray it comes out silver!

BTW Kandied91z, didn't you have roh snypers on your car at one time? either way that's one beautiful car... especially with those roh's..

Kandied, would "chrome smoke" give me the effect of black chrome if applied over a polished finish? It's the only translucent black I can find.

i'm sure that's essentially the idea. wether or not it will look the way you want is hard to say. you might try to find a picture of a piece already done that looks similar to what you want and get in contact with that company. translucents are tricky to look good.

chrome in london

two places in london right around the corner from each other:

platingmaster - they do a lot of bike/show plating and polishing 519.433.3423

precision plating says in the y/p that they do all kinds of plating from gold to olive drab. 519.645.2799

the only experience i have with either of these places is seeing some pretty shiny bikes outside of platingmaster, but johnnyiroc seems to have forgotten about this post so i thought i'd chip in...

Thanx for the info. I've been meaning to call Plating Masters for some pricing. I wonder if they will do wheels?
