Thirdgens Going Up...Fourthgens comming down

Was just looking at F body prices on the Auto trader and I seen 2 outrageously priced 3rd gen converts, one was 18grand and the other was 14 or so plus a few late model Irocs with high clix in the 6-7 g range. I also spotted a couple of early 90's Z28 for less than 8g's. Interesting

that is kinda interesting. but then again, the early 4th gen camaros got the short end of the stick when it comes to looks.

True dat... early 4th gen camaros are fugly for the life of me I cant figure out why they decided not to run GFX on the Z28s... out of 4th gens camaros the RS is actually my favourite (for looks)... Even the newer Z28s with the "euro" lights are pretty weak in the styling department. But 4th gen birds on the other hand.... are amazing looking cars.

I also have been following this trend which was predicted by alot of magazines a few years back. Get a clean one while you can!

All in all its still pretty cheap considering whats aon the market. I mean think of whats available for $18,000.00? HONDA's?? Thats it. Oh yeah and the Toyotas and other assorted fart bomb equipped machinery. So for those who want power you need to drop like $50'000.00 on anything new.

Just my thoughts.....and there few and far between

I actually think all F body prices are going to skyrocket. They discontinued the cars. Up up and away!

The 4th Gen cars hitting the used car market now were once daily drivers, meaning they're rough while the 3rd Gen cars have been past this stage and we're still seeing some quality cars re-selling. However, I don't see how 3rd gens will ever outprice the 4th Gens (excluding rare/unique cars).
Of course if you look at the 1st Gen cars in comparison to the 2nd Gen cars, this theory doesn't hold true. 1st Gens are pricey. That's likely due to factors such as: prod #'s, engines, demand, nostalgia, and population demographics. Perhaps we 3rd Gen guys have to wait 20 more yrs??

One of the 4th gens I was referring to has 117 000 kms on it and an asking price of 8900.00 and its a 96, one of the 3rd gen converts has got 179 000 kms on it and they are asking $14 777.00. these may be extreme cases but I have seen many 4th gens belo 10g's, my buddy picked up an 95 Z28 convertible for 10 700, it had over 200 000 on it but was in pretty good shape. I'm not crazy about the 4th gen styling but I like the performance they have.

WOW!!! $8900 for a 4th gen, must have been a 95 that had high K's and not in very good shape. You can find a 4th gen anywhere in good shape though. Now find anything under that, 3rd gen or even 2nd gen. that is in good shape and it is a harder task, therefore a higher price too.

My buddy picked his 93 Z up for $7500.00, private deal!!!
The LT1-6speed combo is quite potent.....sure its not in mint shape, needs a little body work....but now with a cam, headers, catback, 58mm TB, cold air intake, and gears, it flys!!!

Oh yeah guys, its for sale too, he's going racing!!!

PS- It sniffs more than gasoline

This is the time to look for another.
I've seen some deals lately.
Not sure what your looking for this time, but keep at it.
While Autotrader is good, follow Starwheels and others too. Not everyone likes the Autotrader.
Perhaps you want to give us an idea of price, car & options your after.

Here is my ideal car:

91-92 Z28
5 speed manual
black/black leather
*mint* body (preferably new paint)
crappy engine (just to get the price down I don't need the motor anyways I would be using my ZZ4)

Thats what im looking for t-top or convertable would be nice but doesn't really matter too much.. This might be the best time price wize to buy a car but finantually I really should be waiting a while till I get another one But if I can get one at the right price I might just say **** it and buy it now then I have all winter to work on it and get **** swapped over..

IROC-ZZ4 approximately what would be your "right" price? I saw a 91-92(think it was 92 cause it was white with orange stripes) RS here in London at a dealership asking for 6k... said the guy selling it(wasn't there, friend of owner) would probably let it go for 5k. Body, frame, underbody are in mint condition and interior looked pretty good from the outside... car has had some work done to it also performance wise, dunno what tho. Was just told it's had work done to it in the range of 5k over a few years.

Crap..
I dont care if its a hardtop or t-top or vert too much but it MUST be manual This is what happened to me when I bought my last IROC I kept looking and looking and I found one closest to what I wanted except it was auto instead of manual. I don't want to make that mistake again it was the only thing I didn't like about my old car. To hell with auto never again!

just found the business card to the place.

Speedy Lease Sales
71 Clarke Road
London, ON
519-452-4880

I spoke to Bill Ford when I was there briefly. He's an associate there... the car might actually be the owners or another associates car for that place.... he mentioned something like the guy who owned the car is working at the other dealership right now or something...
