Non performance related mods ? Sounds dangerously close to Toyota talk to me...

Hey EasySpeed those things are WAY over priced last time I saw trick centerbolt valve covers I just about croaked when I saw what they wanted for them $$$.

Why don't you take your coin and get some SLP runners ? They look great (IMHO) and add gogo as well.

Hey I take it back/eat my words -- the rocker cover mods would be very cool -- check out this page this guy did it in red:

... just an aside pretty neat mod this guy is doing -- 305 + LT1 intake.

Stve89GTA can you do mine too ???

Ya man.
I usually charge around $50 bucks to sand blast and powder coat items of that size.
Translucents cost a little more - around $75 which gives that 'chrome blue' or similar look.
If you pair up with Easy, I can do both for $120 - translucent blue.
I haven't seen your car in person but Easy's would look awesome with chrome blue valve covers.

Let me know.

Steve, can you simulate black chrome with a powder coat? Is there a translucent black? and does the piece need to be completely smooth to achieve a smooth coated appearance? I've been trying to get this info for months.

Thanks,
Paul

All chrome blacks that I've seen don't look very good at all. Chrome blue and red ar my faves...

What I recommend is Mirror Black. It goes above and beyond your regular high-gloss black....And, i've gotta little trick to make it as smoooth as chrome dip for the ultimate shine.

I powdercoated a set of TPI runners mirror black on a black montecarlo ss. The plenum was polished. That was the meanest engine bay i've ever seen. Nice L98 conversion too.

oh, and no - you don't want a smooth surface with powercoat...unless you're going over polished aluminum for the translucent 'coloured chrome' look.

I want to get as close to black chrome as possible. Would it be best to start with a polished surface?

yes, if you want the best finish possible with a translucent (coloured chrome) - you want to start with either a polished or even chrome dipped part.
A grey primer works really good too - but a polished part with the translucent powder coat looks show quality.

Mirror black is an extremely glossy black. I also have chrome black as well though.

Steve, thanks for the info. How much would it cost, approximately, to have my superram plenum, runners, and throttle body done in mirror black? They'd be pre-polished.

Thanks,
Paul

The throttle body is the trickiest part - but still easy. There's just a lot of holes and things to plug and seal up nicely. The last thing you want is a throttle body that looks great but sticks.
The rest of the stuff is pretty easy.

If you want the chrome black, I can do it all for 120 bucks - provided that you have it polished first.
Mirror black would be $90 and would not require prior polishing.
