Impressions after first whole day of driving a thirdgen

All I can say is WOW! I mean on the big scale of things I only have a stock suspensionsed 305 TBI 91 RS but before this I was driving the parents 1998 Chrysler Breeze. This car is nicer in every matter. AND I think my car is getting better gas milage than the breeze(4cyl) on the highway! I added some tranny fluid(1L ATF) to the oil and naptha/petroleum distolate to the fuel system yesterday and drove her out to sarnia and back to waste some gas and clean the system. 230kms and I'm only done have a tank and I drove back from sarnia in drive and was getting on it most of the way cause I don't wanna keep all that stuff sitting in my system for very long. I actually just bought a can of 1L camping fluid(naptha) and an inj system cleaner for the petroleum distolate. Probably going to change the oil on monday and repeat again a couple times before I etest. Just out of curiosity do you think running some thicker oil such as lucas + 15w40 will help my passing testing also? I really dont think I'll have a problem but my car was pretty ill maintained and I'm just trying to make sure ya know.

Anyway these cars are a blast to drive. It's not really all that quick, its only an L03, but the ride is a ton of fun. I never thought I was going to get one of these cars and be so pleased before I ever really touched the thing mod wise.

OH! and got my first compliment the very first time I actually took it out and parked it when I went to the mall yesterday too

305 TBI... the gas mileage king.. yeah on highway it eats very little gas. Combination of 2.73 gears, advance timing and a lean mode for highway use and you can possibly break the 600 km/tank on highway... I know I used to before the gear swap.

yea I know its weird I post about gas milage but it was just really surprising and I was trying to get through the tank and it wasn't happening near as fast as I thought it would.

If you want to drain a tank fast on a TBI, just drive it around town... our city mileage is crap.

Go take a look at 90% of the FI cleaners or Fuel system cleaners out there and check the ingredients... Naptha and Petroleum distolate. $4.99 for a 1L bottle of camping fuel aka Naptha and I just chose a motormaster fuel system cleaner for ~$3 that contained petroleum distolate. Threw the whole shebam in. This was semi experimental. I just remember reading somewhere this could be done. Ran through the full tank of gas as of yesterday and not a single problem. Changing the oil today.

Oh and not having cup holders.... yea it's driving me crazy already.

Mah, that takes some guts, especially with a new car!

On a side note, cheers for bombs = lower gas prices!

yea I was kinda iffy on doin it but really what's the worst it could do??? Kill my injectors or a seal is all really. It was mixed in with a full tank of gas. While I wont recommend anyone else doing this as I really dont know how safe it is the ingredients are the same as I mentioned earlier so... never know if ya dont try

I was rippin around the komoka/delaware area today. Was trying to safely find out how much it had in corners. Gets in there more than I would have ever hoped stock. Ended up at the track entrance of Delaware speedway around 4pm. The track gates were open and nobody was in sight. I really wanted to just rip around a couple laps real quick but there were some people there up near the front gates doing something so I chickened out. Figured if they're still running the autoX stuff johnny was talking about I can just run around there then. Guess I coulda made it around the track without being stopped a couple times but I dont know how kindly they take to people doing that. Maybe I should have... still had a fun day driving around the country anyway.

I think Shannonville has lap days in the summer which are relatively informal. Don't know how much it costs though - probably not that much.

I don't even want to know my gas mileage.....3.73's are fun to have but the gas mileage is terrible on the highway, although in the city the gas mileage has improved.

After I put the higher stall convertor in, my gas mileage also dropped even further so I'm guessing I'm probably getting around 12 MPG.
