KWF @ Sparta pics

I dropped by Sparta this afternoon to check out the action, it was a perfect day for racing. Nice and sunny, but the air was cool enough for some good runs.

Congratulations to Tracy (CopperChick) on a new personal best of 15.7, and anyone else who had a good run.

Here's the pics:

This first set are of Matt Glassford's ARE 436ci C5 getting schooled by his buddy's 383 SBC C3. In Matt's defence, the C3 was on slicks and he was on street tires... he later knocked off a 12.00 on street tires which is respectable at Sparta.

Thanks Jay for the great pics!!!

Yeah it was an awesome day for racing!

Tracey is super excited about the car... we had the holley tuned this week by the Doctor and wow did it pull strong. With traction she likely could see a low 15 before the headers and gears/posi.

I debunked the myth that racing stripes make your car go faster too

...but it was a good day. I cut a .580 light which was a pleasant departure for me(usually in the .8's range). I was at .6 all day long... no spinning either which was also a pleasant departure from the norm.

Anyways, all in all a good day. GOod to see Jay out again, as well as meet Bradford...

Next time i wanna see that 383 Jay

It was a great day! Nope, the headers are still keeping the 3.73 gears company in our basement. The Performer RPM intake and the Holley double pumper got me out of the 17s from last year and into 15s this year..and for not all that much $ either. And check it out Trigger- it did all fit under my hood! I'm pretty happy about the gains...and I'm quite curious to see what the headers and gears do from here. Nice to see ya Johny! Me thinks I shall start the quest for posi. Stay tuned...

Yeah... I tried to call you a bunch of times before I left, but there will be many more track days this summer.

Great pics guys Every time I see one of these threads I wish I lived in Southern Ontario. The local F-body clubs idea of a good time is getting together to discuss who can get the most coats of wax on their car

Low 12s was the best I saw... but I left kinda early. In the 12.2-12.3 range...

fun day at the track

Ya that was a great time on sunday, for the most part everything went ok, a few bumps in the road on the way up and the way back but nothing we couldnt handle.

rattled off my best time yet

react .843
60ft 2.127
1/4 14.527
mph 96.70

not too bad for a weak 305 except i got greedy and pulled the rev limiter and wound her up to 6250 and had a rod bearing let go,fastest mph of 97.4 but i dont care, i have more 305's on the ground in the garage, but might find a 350 for her now, dont know yet just driving the truck for a while.

Ya my buddy with the 97 LT1 Z28, his name is Jason, He ran a personal best of 13.47 at around 105, we just built the 9 inch for the car, put it in a couple of weeks ago, it has the wrong gear - 3.55's, needs 4.11's bad

Thanks for posting all the pics johnnyIROC, , hope we can do it again some time, thanks for the invite KWF,

I guess if you look at these pics it definitely does look like I got schooled. However, the view from the traps at the end of the track would look much different! This really shows you the difference between a 1.7 60foot made by the C3 on slicks versus my 2.20 60foot on my street tires (not drag radials). I believe on this run I ran a 12.00 and Adam ran a ~12.300.

The powers above definitely did not want me running an 11.99 on Sunday. I ran four 12.0xx's with 2.10-2.25 60foots. I wish I had more confidence in LS1 clutches so I could slap some ET Streets on the car and pull some 1.5 60's and drop into the very low 11s or maybe even high 10s, but I do not wish to put my street car's driveline through that torture.

Regardless, Adam's C3 is an awesome machine, and will be running 11.90s by the end of the season with a few tweaks and maybe some wider slicks. He is on a mission to beat me this year, and part of me actually hopes it happens!

:hail:

My bad... I thought he actually got you on that run. I know you had him for most of the others. And I can vouch for the bad 60's at Sparta... I spent alot of time in the 2.4 range. They are both amazing machines, and I enjoyed watching you guys battle it out.

BTW, here's a few pics from that auto X if you want 'em:
