I just got my mac sfc two weeks ago and they are great. Just order from mac or who ever yourself and save the middle mans cut. I would not get the bolt on ones because over time I have been told that they mare the hole bigger by vibrations and such. If you do buy the bolt on type, bolt them on and then mig weld it for more strength.

I know you said purchase in TO but for what it's worth I got the Spohn tubular SFCs shipped to my door last week sometime.
There was no duty on them because they're made in the USA (NAFTA) and it seems that there were no brokerage charges because they were shipped by FedEx.
Also the exchange rate was a lot better than usual.
Point being that the price of getting them to TO wasn't all that bad and they're a good design.

....I think that the distributor has to fill out the NAFTA sheet for that ....... I bought springs & retainers from Scoggin/ Dickey ....there was still duty .
...also only UPS seems to have these brokerage fees .....for no justifiable reason ..... I have sent stuff back .....and got it quicker and cheaper ....from the United postal service
Note: (mainly for George I think): Fedex international freight rates include brokerage fees (unless of course seller in US paid this part- doubtful). They just no longer itemize them separately.
To compare- go to fedex.com and use the get rates feature- an equivalent sized box shipped from A to B using an air/priority delivery will be $150.00 vs. $30.00 for ground (no brokerage is included or done by Fedex any more on ground freight).

Shipping, handling and insurance total $35.82 which is about $50.00 Cdn. Weight was 28 lbs. Shipped by Fedex Ground
Invoice says made in USA which I expect deals with NAFTA - I had them shipped to my business address but I don't think that should matter.
Don't know what the tax situation is - doesn't look like they charged any.
In my view $50 to my door from Denver is reasonable since I would't get out of bed for $50 Lol..

Yup $50.00 CDN is way cheap- especially for 28lbs from Denver. It sounds like you paid the ground (slow boat) price- but Fedex doesn't do brokerage on this anymore- SO- either the shipper checked off the wrong box on their shipping form and they're paying extra- Fedex made an oversight/error, or the seller ships so many items to Canada- they have things cleared by a broker in bulk at their expense.
Either way- you made out like a bandit on that one. However- any item crossing the border is subject to GST unless you are exempt (i.e. specific government agencies or charities) or it's sent as a "gift" with less than a $50.00 CDN declared value- so someone has definetly paid an extra bill somewhere- the question is who and hopefully not you via letter from Customs and Revenue.

I might be wrong on this but I think I remember a post some time ago about difficulties getting MACs in Canada - some guy in that firm died or something.
Like I say I might be mistaken or the post might have been wrong - I think it was on this board - maybe try a search .
Just some information which may or may not be useful.
EDIT: yeah according Stang Eater MAC Canada shut down because the guy retired - check the big long post about SFCs were we all going on about all the crap we wanted to buy this year.
